I think it's obvious that this season is a wash.

JB is an interim coach just to finish this season. It's not like he's our longterm HC.

So that's why I'm giving a pass to JB, because it's not really his fault when he's just the HC for this year. (Not to mention he's very young and it's the very first time he's a NBA HC.)

You can't expect him to be Phil or Pop in this situation.

I'm not so sure that every player agrees with you in wanting a soft player's coach.

Didn't Jimmy Butler just say recently that Hoiberg is not tough enough?

I honestly think some NBA players do want discipline. Maybe not Harden, but some other players do.

Harden excelled on the USA FIBA team coached by Coach K with assistant Thibs. Can the Rockets re-create that atmosphere for Harden with a Thibs hire?

I believe that is clearly what most of us on the board desire.

No, I don't think you can re-create that for Harden.

    There is a HUGE difference:

On the USA team, Harden was surrounded by great players who he knows are dependable and can perform at top level.

Obviously the Rockets personnel is nowhere near that level. So Harden probably feels like he needs to be the large majority of the offense.

Even Jordan didn't feel the need to score 35 points per night on the Olympic teams.

Maybe Morey was showcasing Ty Lawson, such that the Bucks were so scared to face the Rockets they would forfeit the game. I think that's what's going on there.

Except Harden returned last season playing very well, including good defense, credited to Coach Thibs.

I wouldn't say Harden played "good" defense last year. I would say he played average defense.

Before last year, he was in the "abysmal" category so it's relative.

Also I think it's different for Harden to be with TT for just one short-term summer international tournament, versus entire NBA seasons.

Well, you could also theorize that Harden played well last year and also played well under Thibs because he was still chasing the money.

No one knows why Harden is having a down year, except for Harden. But if money is the reason, then no coaching change, even for Thibs, is going to change him.

Or maybe there's truth to it and that'd why two sources heard about it?

I agree actually. I didn't want to say anything, but there have been multiple times where I would read something on hoopshype, and then see cyberx "report" it, and that rumor would never even come into fruition.

It could be that two people heard from the same source, or it might mean that cyberx is just after attention. I hope it's the former, but am not convinced.

Bunch of sources. You can trace it back.

Lawson to bucks came BEFORE cyberxs post. Same with that dumb**** jack/bojan deal.
