umm bc Lawson's job as a pure pg is being a playmaker not to be a spot up shooter. he's been that way his whole career. and his %'s aren't much better this year. what are you talking about
Any point guard we bring in is going to have the same problem with harden. Lin & Lawson are very similar in that they are more effective when the run the offense. Similarly to Harden. You can see that Lin is playing more effect else where, Lawson played better when he ran the nuggets. The problem is Harden not being able to do what said he would like to do and that is to play off the ball. On paper having a speedy Pg like lawson that can attack the D is wonder but it is not compatible. I think our answer is either A. Moving James to the PG spot and finding an off the ball SG that can guard PG. B: finding a Derek Fisher type PG
ill agree he has been bad for much of the season but yeah he has absolutely played well recently and a few Rockets losses were a waste of these games and negated it. But Lawson's struggles are not just on him. Everyone else has to have a hand in actively trying to fit Lawson onto this team. Bringing in someone like him is not like running the team with Beverley. That's something everyone has had a problem adjusting to for much of the season.
Or it could be that the team is actually playing harder and rotating better on defense. But you're right, Lawson has been affecting the starters horrible defense and rebounding from the bench
yep and Lawson was +6 tonight. I don't see where Lawson is hurting the team right now versus the beginning of the season
I'm not the biggest Lawson fan, but I can't understand how you can say this... Lawson did a good job, especially on the defensive end... As long as the team continues to play team ball Lawson will be ok.. T_Man
Ty is great at attacking and finding the open man. Still getting used to his team mates. Open to making the extra pass, but also knows when he needs to create a shot for himself. Offensively he has a high bball iq. I think he is great off the bench. Not the savior though. He's not that guy.
He will continue to learn his teammates. Probably doesn't help with all the injuries and lineup shifts and him being on a new team and what not. Anyone we can trade for wont be as good as last years Lawson though so we need to just find that guy
I don't believe that Lawson is ailing the team. He definitely was early in the season - he wasn't playmaking, passing up open shots, not defending and turning it over at a high clip. That started to change before he got suspended for the second time and he definitely looks more comfortable every game. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come for this team. Keep improving the on court chemistry, keep winning, stay in the playoff picture and anything is possible still. The Rockets are a much MUCH better team than what they have shown to this point. Maybe, just maybe there is a positive to all the early season struggles and maybe that is exactly what this team needed; they could have given up on the season, but they seem to have stuck it out together. Call me a glass 3/4 full kinda guy but I'm still hopeful that they will peak at the right time!
I may be in the minority, but to me Lawson has been back to his old self for the past month or so. He's making positive contributions on the offensive side of the ball--the ball even runs more smoothly under his guidance than Harden's--while not being an absolute sieve on defense like Harden, Jones, Brewer, and Terry have been. Even his shot is back. All that's missing for Lawson is playing time. We need to get him up to 25-30min a game including more time with Dwight.
Just going by +/- numbers, the bench seemed to have played a good game last night. Jones +13 Thornton +10 Lawson +5 Corey Brewer +10 Sign of good things to come?
You are loyal, though. Or stubborn. Acquiring Lawson simply underscored that a certain type of point guard is needed here. A shame.Llull stayed overseas.
just a firm believer that the things Lawson does best are something the Rockets absolutely need to reach their full potential and compete with the best. An added dimension that is the total opposite from what has been seen at the beginning of the season.
And that is really what was a major weaknesses last year. When Harden went to the bench, the offense just died. Having Lawson, whether he was the drive for this output or not, helps provide that.
Rockets play better without Lawson, plain and simple. They've won every game he hasn't played in. They were on winning streaks playing very good basketball, looking like they were turning things around. Ever since he's come back Rockets look terrible. Of course he's not the sole reason but he's a MAJOR reason, enough for Terry to say "this isn't the same team" when he was referring to Lawson.
LOL these guys are pretty good at. I want to see them do some Harden's defense impersonation. That will be something to see:grin:
yup plain and simple lol. keep rolling out these mediocre guards next to Harden that can only "fit" the way he plays at the moment. The rockets will continue to lose period
