Is this really worth THIS much conversation? I mean, does it surprise people that racist black people only see race when it comes to who wins awards? Racist people of all types generally view the world through the lens of race so it really shouldn't be a shocker.

We should just pity them for having such a terrible world perspective and move on.

What is funnier is that when people like Stacy Dash comes out and makes it how it pops up over and over again. It's amazing to me, the people that make this argument don't sit back and think on it for 5 minutes to realize how stupid it is.

While I don't want to give legitimacy to a MojoMan topic, I will say the members do have pretty dumb reasons for why they picked what they chosen. Look up Brutally Honest Oscar Ballots and shake your head at many of the reasons.

Can we merge this thread with the still-running Oscar thread? There's no reason this should be separate -- except maybe the other one is the black people thread and this is the white people thread?

A lot of gems in there.

Off the top of my head one of them said they voted for Big Hero 6 because the other movies were all chinese junk or something similar.

    Found the quote...

    http://www.cartoonbrew.com/award-se...ters-are-clueless-about-animation-109456.html

    Which is hilarious and sad...

Are you trying to make a case for the secret quality of the "two obscure freakin’ Chinese ****in’ things that nobody ever freakin’ saw", or are you just whining?

The larger problem is the Democrat left's promotion of a double standard on this and also the promotion of their political correctness values and agenda.

The promotion of these sorts of double standards is at its root why everyone is so pissed of in our country right now. While this current topic is only one example of this phenomenon, Black people have been enabled to think and behave with zero tolerance towards white people who do not accommodate them however they want on race issues like this, with failure to comply resulting in this sort of uncivil and frequently dishonest antagonism towards their Caucasian enemies.

At the same time, the black community has been encouraged by the Democrat left to accept the false premise that if they are black, it is literally impossible for them to be racists, enabling and encouraging them to not only be racists, but to be racists without any reasonable kind of social check or balance.

The imbalance created by these two inequitable scenarios has resulted in all of these people getting madder and madder, with these sorts of race baiting, racist black people acting out because few people dare to say anything to them about it, and the targets of their anger getting angrier and angrier because of the dishonest, unjust and hostile treatment they are expected to endure as a result, even though in the vast majority of cases they are not guilty of what they are being accused of.

It really is infuriating, as these Hollywood elites are presently discovering and as black people have known for quite a while now. And it this cultural fault line has been brought to us with the support and sponsorship of the Democrat left, Barack Obama currently presiding.

This is not a sustainable scenario over the long term and it will not be addressed until these people start to see it for themselves, as we all have had the opportunity to do in this situation and also the on-campus revolts of the "safe spaces and trigger warnings" chapters of the left's Democrat-promoted political correctness effort, just to name two examples.

I don't think you can blame this on a political party, most if not all of the Academy is comprised of Democrats. This nonsense is just a fringe group of racists that should be either pitied, ignored, or laughed at.

I just find it funny that the voter is upset about two Chinese things and neither were Chinese?

Song of the Sea was good though.

They are talking about star wars and who should have gotten the nominations or something in that thread.

This thread is about the social and emotional effects on individuals and our society of these kinds of unrestrained and highly antagonistic recriminations under the cover of the left's political correctness agenda. That is clearly not what is being discussed over in the other thread.

That voter clearly has a bias towards movies in English, and that's fine, there are over 6000 voters in the Academy so all sorts of opinions will be present. I'm sure there are voters who are biased towards small foreign films too, it's not for everyone. That said, they do get their own category don't they?

It is not solely the fault of the Democrats, but the promotion of these sorts of double standards and the left's political correctness agenda are actively enabled and encouraged by the Democrats. If they started opposing these practices as the scourge on our society that they are, we would be well on our way towards fixing this problem. Of course we both know the likelihood of that happening is effectively zero.

So this thread is about people calling other people racist...

    The irony...

I think we should make these forums a safe space. Lets ban the word "Racist" it seems to affect some people around here and make them uncomfy. They can't really handle talking about it without also crying about the word being used and who can use it and how they should be able to use.

Let's ban the words "Racism" and "Racist"! No more threads or posts about it! Lets make this a safe place for Mojo!

Too bad Song of the Sea is in English though.

They vote in their own branch. Actors vote for actors, directors vote for directors, etc.

No, the Academy is made of thousands of members. How do you know who they last voted for president or their voting history at all?

Stallone is a Republican, Robert Duvall, Clint Eastwood and his chair...

Talk about generalizing, and here the OP is all against generalizing the Oscar Voters as racist...

LOL, you think that suggesting that people in Hollywood are Democrats is the same as saying that they are all racist? Wow. What's it like out there on the fringe?

Since I am the one who started a thread about these assertions of racism and the effects that it is having, especially on individuals wrongly treated and our society as a whole, I know you are not honestly talking about me.

Nobody is suggesting banning anything here other than you. However, if these people wanted to ratchet down the incivility a few notches, voluntarily and of their own accord, that would be welcome and it would also be very nice.
