    3 sentences?

I'm disappointed. I came looking for a classic Ronny diatribe

    ----

On topic, I have to wonder how big of a p***y you have to be to voluntarily withdraw a bill after it was "declared" anything by a council that has no other power but blow a lot of hot air.

    Change will come, albeit slowly

There are lots of things with Islamic culture that aren't very appealing.

Core of the problem is religion in government. Separation of Church and State while allowing freedom of religion is what all these regions need. One of the best idea ever for human progression.

How does raising the legal age from 16 to 18 really help stop child marriage? Isn't age of consent 16 in a huge amount of countries anyways? How does this keep someone from marrying a 9 year old?

EDIT: I see that it does address child marriage separately.

Yes, that is the best idea the founding fathers had.

Did you guys even bother reading the article or are you just going off the troll title?

    16 to 18.

Legal age is 16 in many places around the world. Not that big of a deal. "Child" marriage isn't a big issue in Pakistan. I'm sure there are some cases in remote rural areas.

Women are actually more progressive in Pakistan than other places in the Muslim world. There's been a notable increase in women in the work force for example.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_marriage_in_Pakistan

The limited data available on child marriages in Pakistan present a bleak picture.[1] Twenty four percent of women in the country were married before the age of 18 years in the country between 2000 and 2010 with seven percent married before they reached the age of 15 years. Other estimates quote that around 30% of the marriages in Pakistan fall under the child marriage category with the highest prevalence in the Sindh province.[8]

I'm not that big on Wikipedia as a source.

Especially when the section you pulled that from is titled "lack of data"

'lack of data' usually isn't a positive indicator.

That's neither here nor there and it could go either way. We don't know. At any rate, if someone else cited Wikipedia as a source, I have no doubts ATW would have a field day.

If you want to take 7% as a big deal, that's fine. It's still happening in remote rural villages and especially among the uneducated illiterate part of the population (which is a huge problem in Pakistan, doubly so in rural areas).

93% is a pretty good number. Yeah it should be 100%.

But these sorts of things are a work in progress and will change soon enough when the lower class there becomes a bit more educated.

If we assume the Pakistani numbers are accurate, they are least 3 times higher on the low end and up to 10 times higher on the high end.

This is all conjecture and based on common sense but I would assume a large portion of child marriages in the U.S. are two kids who made a mistake and the parents decided it's best if they marry.

Child marriage in Islamic countries is usually a father giving away his daughter to a full grown adult male and his daughter not really having much say in the matter.

    Two entirely different scenario.

Child marriage is prevalent in all underdeveloped countries. This ranges across South America, Africa, and Asia.

There are no Muslim majority communities in South America last I checked.

Except the only places on this planet with absolutely no legal restrictions on child marriage is in Muslim majority countries.
