Do you know what real oil subsidies and tax credits still exists for oil companies?

I believe Cruz said eliminate all. But to understand the impact of that, you have to understand what are the current credits and subsidies... However, the larger picture is he want this for his simple flat tax plan.

I believe he also said allow capital expense to be treated as operational expense for tax purposes (immediately deductible). I think this heavily favor existing mature busn.

(I like the idea of a simple tax system, but what Cruz simple tax plan is doing is killing off every federal government non-defense programs and putting trust in a total free market system with low tax to drive economic growth... basically a twist to trick me down economic with much more drastic reduction in taxes).

The more legal scholars look at this issue the worse it looks for Ted:

Ted Cruz is not eligible to run for president: A Harvard Law professor close-reads the Constitution

    More at the link.

I agree with that interpretation, I don't think Cruz should be eligible to be president based on the fact that he isn't a natural born citizen of the United States, he was naturalized at birth by virtue of his parents being citizens, but he wasn't a citizen by virtue of his birth being within the United States like the so called "anchor babies" are.

Would that make Gary Johnson the winner?

I'm sure if that happened, both parties would put out alternate candidates and you'd probably get a Rubio-Sanders election.

Not sure, but I don't think an indictment would preclude Hillary's ability to run.

This is shaping up to be one hell of an election cycle.

Seems a shame this couldn't just be an election focused on the strengths of the approaches and ideas...

True, unless she's already convicted, but that seems highly unlikely. Also, Obama could (and perhaps should) grant her a pardon if we're stuck in a general election without candidates. None of this will happen, but gallows humor is appropriate to this election cycle.

Doesn't deserve its own thread but it's funny nonetheless, especially given Cruz's representation of Christianity.

I thought that too, but if you look at the things she can be charged with, things that she is clearly guilty of, part of the punishment is that you can never work for the government again in any capacity. I think it would take Obama stepping up and squashing the indictment for Hillary to make it past these charges and still be able to run for president. I mean there's no question she routinely broke the law and that she ordered others to do the same, the only question is if she'll face the consequences that anyone else would having done the same thing.

Cruz is broadly for corporate welfare when he thinks he can secretly accept it to help win a primary election.

You obviously do not know what corporate welfare is. Corporate welfare is when corporations receive handouts and money from the government. Unless you are an imbecile, you will be able to see right away that this scenario is not relevant to Ted Cruz's campaign activities.

It disappears. That is the whole point. The wealthy who fund the "libertarian" ideology don't need it and the little guy "libertarians" are so besotted by their extreme ideology that they all think they will become wealthy also.
