Saw it again yesterday. I thought I wouldn't like it as much as the first time, but I found myself liking it even more. Finn had a few funny lines that I must have missed the first time. The best being when he told BB-8 "Droid, PLEASE!" Watching Kylo killing Han was different this time around. The first time, it seemed like Kylo was just acting and stringing Han along by saying he needed the strength to do what he had to do. But seeing it again, it seemed like he really was struggling to do it instead of just toying with Han like I originally thought. Or maybe that entire scene just went over my head the first time.... I paid a little more attention to the music this time around too. Not bad, but no iconic themes like the other movies. My boys LOVED it. I asked one if he needed to go to the bathroom and he said "I can hold it, I want to finish the movie." LOL. Later, I asked them both if they liked Star Wars and they both said "no, it's not Star Wars...it's The Force Awakens." Okay then.
That's so awesome Yeah, I liked it even better the 2nd time around, too. I didn't pick up, the first time, that Kylo was seeing Rey's thoughts about "an ocean and an island" when he was trying to find the map in her thoughts....and that ultimately, that's where Luke was. Took me seeing it a 2nd time to catch that.
Is it me or does star wars rehash the same ending? How many times are there going to be a space ship which supposedly be more powerful, bigger, badassery and has a better defense than the previous one? Happen in episode 1, 4, 6, and now 7 only to be spoil by having someone blow it up from the inside and escape unharm like Indiana jones Raiders of the lost arks. It feels like watching an episode of pokemon where team rocket blasting off AGAIN lol. And don't get me started on how Finn can keep up and harm a noobie Jedi kylo Ren. He's a freaking jedi!
I think that was everyone's biggest let down, another Deathstar. How so many people could let that happen I don't know. But in a lot of ways this was just a reboot for the kids. all of it new to them. And an attempt to recapture the sense of adventure for the adults. It worked. These reboots happen.
He's no jedi. Or a sith. And there's no bad-ass spaceship in episode 1 with a better defense. Don't know what you're trying to make a comparison to. Must be another movie you saw. Nor did Finn really hang with Kylo Ren. He got knocked the hell out.
Technically there is only one Jedi or Sith in the movie, Luke. Which is interesting, JJ says Kylo is no Sith which makes sense since he does not have a sith Title "Lord whatever, Darth whatever." and Rey is not Jedi either. There is a theory that Finn is force sensitive, which would explain that. I think there's something to it but only time will tell.
I thought anyone who has the FORCE is consider a jedi Yeah he got knock the F*** out after he cut up ren. It's still a space ship which ends the same way as the rest.
And Yoda sayeth unto Luke: For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes. Even between the land and the ship. So to me that means everyone and every thing have the force. Only Jedi's (& Siths) have a greater ability to harness it and manipulate it than normal people.
If you watch it again kylo toys with Finn. Controls the fight up to the tree and then sticks that crossbar into Finn. Finn lashes out and gets one lucky guy. Kylo goes all out and drops Finn like a bad habit nearly killing him.
Also, Kylo is still training and Finn is/was a trained stormtrooper, so he can definitely fight. He may or may not be force sensitive himself. We'll probably find out in the next movie.
Weird thing is Finn got knocked down very easily by the stormtrooper with the lightsaber gun who yells "traiter!" I'm sure Rylo Ken could have ended that stormtroopers life with 1 finger. Finn seems like he can't even fight. A little inconsistency IMO.
