In the article yesterday they gave a pretty comprehensive view of his health issues. They began as auto-immune issues, acute ulcerative colitis (colon), and chronic rheumatoid arthritis and ended with complications from pneumonia. So strange in 2016 with the best medical care on the planet that you can still die of this, basically you own immune system declares war on parts of your own body. I'm not a doctor but I guess the treatment is enough steroids to shut the immune system down and that leads to susceptibility to other infections like the pneumonia.
I love The Eagles and I don't care who knows it. And I always liked the songs Glenn sung the best. Damn.
Kinda hard to understate how big a loss this is to folks in their late forties and older. It may not be "cool" to like the Eagles or their solo stuff but trust me tens of millions do and this is a HUGE loss to them. First David Bowie and now Glenn Frey. Geez, I've never felt more mortal.
The Eagles, MUCH more than any other band (along with RUSH) spoke for/to my soul. While many big noises have passed of late, Glenn Frey's early departure stands alone for me...and I'm guessing many others also. Because it's personal. Glenn and the rest of the band possessed a natural/free/earthy spirit that will live on....always....in us. I remember seeing them in the Summit/2000ish...It was FULL..,.and the ages ranged from 12-80. They played for 3 and 1/2 hours..To this day, that is the most intimate performance I've ever experienced.
it was almost cliche to say you did not like the eagles, especially after big lebowski...but whether you like them or not you know at least 20 songs of their songs by heart. if you have not seen the documentary i would highly recommend it, even if you're not a fan. and not even jimmy fallon can ruin this...THE H IS O! http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/54...ben-stiller?_cc=__d___&_ccid=5b573f166e723d5c
That's the crux of the problem, they're the single most overplayed good-ish band in the history of music. Every single girl I knew from HS through college had their greatest hits album and played it regularly, and those same 10-20 songs you're talking about are played non-stop on the radio. RIP to Frey. The second best Eagle behind Joe Walsh.
Very sad. Loved the Eagles from the first album. Was fortunate to see them at Jeppeson stadium around '74 and again at the Texxas Jam in Dallas around '79/'80. If you haven't seen the documentary on the Eagles on Netflix I highly recommend it. Frey was WAY too young!!!
Saw them at Darien Lake in Rochester on the comeback tour. Good times. Had no idea who they were, but a girl wanted to go, so I went. I knew most of their songs surprisingly and they were great!
Eagles manager says arthritis pills played role in Frey's death http://www.foxnews.com/health/2016/...played-role-in-freys-death.html?intcmp=hplnws “He died from complications of ulcer and colitis after being treated with drugs for his rheumatoid arthritis, which he had for over 15 years,’’ the singer’s manager, Irving Azoff, told the Web site The Wrap. ADVERTISEMENT “The colitis and pneumonia were side effects from all the meds,” Azoff said.
