So you pay someone based on who they were 4 years ago? I bet if you were a GM you'd offer Deron and Joe Johnson 30 million each and would think you're the best GM ever.
No, you pay someone based on what you think they will be during the duration of their next contract. A limited sample of games and injury considerations can affect your decision. What would Danilo Gallinari and Brandon Jennings get on the open market? How many games are they likely to miss and how have they recovered from their most recent surgeries? How has DMo recovered from his surgery? Do you expect them to fully recover and reach their pre-injury level? These are questions GMs need to ask themselves, rather than just assuming guys will be the same as they were before. It's what Morey had to take into consideration when he was offered a trade for Amare and turned it down because Phoenix demanded we waive the medical. If DMo doesn't come back soon and start playing meaningful minutes, it will undoubtedly affect his free agency.
Need bigs who can shoot the 3 around Dwight? Sign frikkin Raphael Putney and Perry Jones from the D Leagues. Both also athletic enough to be effective in switch defense and defending PnR. Get some youth that actually see some court time AND help this team. I'm looking at YOU Dekker and KJ.
Still cheering for this guy who had contributed nothing to the team and last yr's playoffs? Let him go, he is not gonna save us.
only if his injury is career threatening.... weeks ago I thought so too Now I am about to change my mind about this. You need guys with good work ethic here in the organization Can't have 10 Hardens with lazy attitude, you just need more durable versions of Dmo, guys with work ethic.
I heard the sooner rather than later.... was just wondering where you were getting the "possibly tomorrow" part, given that he hasn't even resumed practice (that I know of).
You mean drop DMo from the team right now? You don't even want to wait it out till Spring till his contract ends? That's brutal man, not even Jones Only fans are that brutal.
Screw the only fans... when it comes to the survival of the team this trivial feud is not relevant - team's chances to be champions come first They should even be thinking about trading Harden
A back surgery is Not a minor surgery. Wake up. It might not be severe but when you are dealing with nerves and spine ( dont even know the word in english ) its never minor and you cant predict even how the patient will react 100%. I have family who had such surgery and the doctor straight up said that its indiosyncratic to the patient. Some come back sooner some later some even may need another later because the pain comes back. Do not underestimate back surgery. Anyway dmo i hope if he comes back this week will have the presence of mind not to take any charges. Imagine taking charges from drummond or parker. He will be straight back to rehab.
If it's true, this season is definitely over.. DMo work his butt on, to back on the court for half a year(and now this?)..
