Over the course of this season most of the negativity on this board has been directed at James ( aside from a few who vehemently express disgust at jones being born ) . This is understandable , he's unquestionably the best player on the team when he is playing his best and therefore deserves criticism when things go wrong and praise when they go right . However my question to you is about your characterizations of him . The most common quote on the bbs ," James is a me first player . " " he doesn't care about winning only his offensive stats ." Let me ask ... Was James a me first player when he carried us to the two seed last year and had a real MVP season ? Was he a me first player in the playoffs ? Was he a me first player when he first got here ? What about when relenetlessly attacked the basket in his first 2 years here ? I'm making this thread not to absolve James of any fault , he does need to show more effort on defense , I would like to see him play differently on offense . But let's not believe that his character is so suddenly changed and due to his association with the k family he is no longer looking to involve teammates . He's in a rut , a slump , it happens to everyone and James importance to our team magnifies this slump . In general if he plays well we win . Most of our wins this year have been on his back . Take this post for what you will , but there is just too much absolutism in sports analysis and frankly it's making the bbs hard to read .
Yes, he was the same last year - we just had better bigs to help...DMo primarily. James has been exposed for the Me First Adrian Dantley clone that he is.....I am leaning towards trading him and keeping Howard. DD

Harden this year is a completely different player to last season. The numbers will more than likely be similar come season end. But watching every game it is 100% obvious he is not the same. Jones is hated on because he is not good and sometimes tries to do things he can't do. Harden is hated on because he had proven he is arguably the best player in the league but is content to only show effort one every two or three games. That is unacceptable.
Pointless to try OP Fans have gotten to the point where they will attribute anything negative to him. There is no rationalization with them. Its less about him at this point, and more about them just trying to find an outlet for their frustration.

I just don't think he could have been as legitimately good as he has been while being a me first player . The last few years he unquestionably made players around him better , that's the antithesis of a me first guy . You can say he only cared about stats , be he relentlessly drove into the lane , and was more than willing to make hockey passes . Something has changed this year and it is more closely related to his willingness to drive than anything else . He isn't getting calls , AND teams are intercepting his passes out . This is the root of our struggles this year .
He's playing like crap and is being rightfully called out for it. If he isn't going to play like a max player then he has no place on this team
Harden is undeniably an elite offensive player. I don't get why ppl focus negatively on that. I agree it would be better if he played better defensively. We have many worse players though - much worse.
I dont bash Harden because according to delusional homers like jordnn and fizzle he shot 40% for one week from 3 in December so he can kee jacking 3's. Also his turnovers are acceptable because of some cherry picked stat I forgot And he was a gym rat all summer working on improving his game and had no distractions according to the same fools
I still have faith in James. He was noticeably out of shape the first 10 or so games and that was pretty selfish of him. He started behind the 8 ball and the coaching staff has been trash. i think he can back to playing at a high level again this year. Probably after the all star break he will round into form.
