I don't think anyone was arguing that the way women are treated in the western world is always fine. I think they were arguing it's a hell of a lot better than the other Islamic examples posted above. Do you disagree with that? Some countries where the predominant religion is Islam treat women like non humans. Some western countries where the predominant religion is not Islam treat women as second class citizens with less rights no matter what their constituion says.
