Godfather Part I is my favorite movie of this genre, with Part II coming in closely behing(Most movie buffs actually prefer Part II to Part I, but, as a regular movie-watcher, I think Part I was flawless.

Some others I have enjoyed are Scarface, Goodfellas(My favorite after the Godfathers), and Casino.

What about Road to Perdition? That one was pretty good, although not a full-fledged gangster movie.

I'd have to put another little vote in for "Miller's Crossing." It is unlike anything else in the genre, and there's plenty to digest in repeat viewings. The dialogue is playful, sinister and rapid-fire all at once.

There's an attempted assassination scene in that movie that's set to the tune of Danny Boy. It is absolutely one of my favorite scenes in the history of film.

    all great choices

I love Hoodlum, and Roth is great, as always.

Billy Bathgate is great, and I'm not just saying that because of the full frontal nudity of Nicole Kidman, although that is reason enough to see it.

AMERICAN ME is a classic. Vatos locos. Edward James Olmos gave the performance of his life.

South Central is another great film that doesn't get its due. Really lays it out.

I personally liked Road to Perdition. However, with Hanks and all, the movie was shoved down everyone's throat before it even hit the theaters. It was bound to not live up to expectations. That, and it was pretty predictable. Overall, hype and Hank's performance aside, it just doesn't measure up to the likes of Godfather and Casino IMO, although, its a good movie in its own right.

I love Goodfellas, can't really get much better than that - Godfather 1 & 2 just depending on what kind of gangster movie you like, those are both the best. Casino is good too, and I really liked New Jack City - that's an awesome movie.

Also, don't forget "Mafia!" - it's a spoof, but a damn good one.
