This shouldn't move the needle for anyone that didn't like Cruz in the first place. This is hardly the reason why people don't like him. Cruz campaign on attacking Goldman and other Wall Street financial firms as "crony capitalists", but then received sweet deals from them to finance his campaign. That should give pause to his supporters that liked him for being that outsider candidate. Well, turns out he's not much of an outsider. But probably doesn't matter to his supporters since those folks tend to not trust the news media.
I call BS. He got the exact kind of deal for a person of his wealth and stock holdings would normally get.
Actually, we have no idea how typical is the loan and line of credit. It hasn't been disclosed with all the details.
HAHA! Womp, womp, wooomp. The amount and interest rate fit exactly his level of stock holdings. It's cool to watch liberals eat the crumbs off of Trump's table.
hilarious. Trump tried to turn Cruz' comments into Cruz hating New Yorkers, rather than their values. Most people saw through that.
The criticism of Cruz on the loans isn't that he got them or at what interest rate he got them but that he failed to disclose them and instead peddled a story about his family liquidating assets. This was to burnish his image as a populist who is taking on Wall Street. I agree though this probably won't hurt him very much. It is though another example that Ted Cruz is just another politician as much as those he criticizes.
I mean, it's pretty damn obvious that any republican who can provide a challenge to trump will be purchased outright by the establishment. Why on earth would you think otherwise about Ted freaking Cruz lol.
That suggests that the establishment wants Trump and I think that's the furthest thing from the truth. They don't want Cruz either, but they damn sure don't want Trump.
The dude said he got a sweet interest rate, I denied that claim, now he is having trouble understanding his original remarks. It's ok, now I can just ignore him because he doesn't know what he is even saying. He disclosed those loans before the election ever took place.
I was suggesting the opposite, the establishment doesn't want Trump but they will purchase and control anyone who can pose a challenge to him including Cruz. Doesn't it scare you they don't want trump though? Or are you one of those who believe they don't want him cause he speaks the truth and they can't control him? You must see that they don't want him simply because he will favor his own favorite businesses/industries over theirs. Trump just wants to win, he doesn't care about anyone else just like the establishment figures don't but he will compete with them against Americans rather than co-operate with them against Americans. The dude is an average business man with a huge ego and zero personality and clearly not even a cursory understanding of HIS OWN positions. If he hadn't said anything racist or offensive in this campaign, he would not be receiving any merit certainly not for his policy positions lol. I mean honestly bobby don't you deserve someone a bit more civilized and educated and empathetic than this guy? Do you really think the solution to the problems you envision is captured by a guy who has done nothing worth noting in his life? Do you really think it's as simple as stopping change in America? This is the president of 350 million people we're talking about. If I were opening a theme park I could see the argument, he is great for PR and understands how to make things go viral in societal webs. But this is the presidency man. I'm not saying Bernie or anyone else. But TRUMP? I expect more from you guys than is expected from any other country, shouldn't you too? Doesn't this reek of competing with other racist egomaniacs around the world? You know it wasn't so long ago people would look up to American presidents bobby. Are you happy having a president who is just average when compared to poor/rich/old/new countries leaders? Trumps are a dime a dozen in the world. You can find them littered all over Asia and Africa.
Ah, I misunderstood you. When it comes to Trump, he's a total joke of a candidate, I imagine that's part of why "they don't want him". When Kinky Friedman ran for Governor at least it was a funny joke. Donald Trump for president is a horrifying kind of joke. Honestly if the Republicans roll with Trump I'll actively campaign for whoever runs against him.
Mathloom says Trump "speaks the truth." Interesting. About what, exactly? Not muslims, that's for sure. Or I sure hope not. Not science. That I know for sure. Not economics or tax policies -- even an embicile can see that. Not foreign policy. Maybe he's said something accurate about campaign finance or backgammon?
I think my favorite quote from Cruz this election cycle has to be "But if you live by the pen, you die by the pen. And my pen has got an eraser."
I do not like explaining but I have to here. me- Cruz got special deal (0 % interest rate being implied) you- that's BS me- ok, we don't actually know what's in the loan since the details have not been disclosed (i agree with you it's bs until we know) you- the amount and interest rate fit exactly his level of stock holdings me- what? now, you are saying he did get a special interest rate? If he did get a 0% margin loan on ~250k, that might be exactly normal for people like him (politician), but not normal at all. The going rate for that is probably 6-7% back in 2012.
Cruz is turning his focus to New Hampshire this week with a five day, 17 county bus trip of the state. At his first stop, he was immediately asked to repeat his comments about "New York Values". He happily obliged. In fact, it appears this line of attack may effectively be becoming a part of his stump speech. Cruz wants as many likely Republican voters to hear this as many times as they possibly can before Trump eventually drops out of the race. Of course Cruz is not expecting to win in New Hampshire. But in the RCP Poll average for New Hampshire, Cruz is in fourth place, with second through sixth place in the polls separated by just 4.4%, which is within the margin of error in most of these polls. If he can somehow finish in the top three here, after a win in Iowa, he will go into Nevada and South Carolina with major momentum. And then it is on to the South on March 1.
