The Nba season is now into halfway, and the Houston Rockets are now a 21-20. Articles are reporting that the rockets are not elite status anymore, as good teams are putting up good numbers on them. Houston turns the ball over, as well as James Harden in key secs... down the stretch which hurts the rockets 4th quarter comebacks. They usually trail now instead of last year leading near the 4th quarter. It is obvious that if James Harden is the # play option, and there is no 2nd tier option, this makes clear that houston has been figured out by the league. There has to come to a time, where GM, Owner can understand this by now, and needs to make they right move or 2. To balance this team, and get it on the winning track. You need to have a 2nd scoring option, and you need somebody on the bench who can defensively be a stopper. When will houston deal?
If there's no second option it's because harden is so ball dominant... C'mon we have a future HOFer at center, ,yet he can get only 6 to 8 shots many nights... We spent years trying to get Dwight and then he's virtually ignored for quarters, halfs and games at a time... We need someone to RUN THE TEAM - and not just be Harden's b****....
It would be a lot easier if he was at least decent in the post creating his own shot.....but when he's averaging 0.83 points per possession in the post, it's kind of hurting your team going to that. I mean, he's still better than Capela in the post, but every other big man on the roster is a better option down low.
That said, DMo hasn't been very good in his little playing time this year so honestly we don't have a viable post option right now.
He's shooting the highest fg% of his career... granted thats due to lobs - so throw him more lobs... whats the problem?
The problem is that someone has to create those lobs for him and even though they make it look easy, it's really not that easy. As it stands, he gets the 2nd most touches on the team, so they really aren't ignoring him, it's just that he's not a very efficient scorer unless he's dunking the ball.
I think we can get twice as many as we have been... I'd say there are easily 6-10 lob opportunities a game - if its a focus... add another half dozen posessions to him downlow... the guy should be taking 12-16 shots a game - as opposed to the 8.6 he's averaging this year... Not to mention, if youre gonna take the detriment of 'hack a Howard' then you need to get better production...
Rudy Gay would be perfect. Kings rejected an offer of Gordon/Gee from the Pelicans. Kings wanted Anderson. Brewer Jones Dekker Future 1st for Rudy Gay.
We need to put energy guys out there , since we obviously can't play intelligently at least we can try to play harder than other teams . We have 1.5 guys playin right now that can pass : harden and Lawson when he decides to show up . Given that harden has struggled with turnovers all year , I'm leaning towards there being a significant X's and O's issue that our coaching either can't figure out how to fix or can't implement . **** , we've been thoroughly outclassed in games against lesser teams and looked like we didn't belong in the NBA some nights against good ones . We aren't one piece away . Our team needs to play like a team . Generally speaking adding a player at mid season won't accomplish that . We shouldn't have fired mchale only to give the reigns to JB . Despite what it looked like effort isn't our main issue . Having one playmaker who the league has adjusted to is what is costing us , that and pretty poor shooting . I say let the young guys play and try to actually coach our way out of this mess , if not bring in a new guy . Those wanting to trade harden because other teams will think a " change of scenery " will fix him , we can provide our own change of scenery by bringing in a different coach .
So, 0.83 per post up is why Howard doesn't get the ball? Then how come 2-10 every other night from 3 doesn't stop Haren from shooting 10 3s every night? Morey promised McHale and every possession to start with pass in the post, when Howard was recruited. Howard was lied to. I'd have demanded trade if I was him long time ago.
He's a good scorer. Great mid range, can shoot off the dribble, and a decent 3 point shooter. Don't understand the hate. Don't forget, Morey drafted him
If Harden was shooting 20% on the season from 3, it probably would stop him from shooting them, as it stands he's only hitting 32.7% of them which is pretty bad but you'd expect him to hit closer to 36% of them by the end of the season. As to Dwight, he's always had bad post numbers.
If we're just gonna end up with the 7th or 8th seed or even out of the playoff race, we will need to change our supporting cast or get another star who can generate his own offense and not be a defensive liability. Maybe that will have to wait till the offseason when we know what the deal is with Dwight and Ty will be gone. Meanwhile we can enjoy the games when the team can get it together.
so at 32.7, we're gettin .91 per Harden 3 which seems to be our #1 option.... but .83 for D12 is horrendous.... so we're gonna keep feeding one while discounting the other as too poor... okay.... lol...smh...
We need a FIRST option. I hate this team... Can't even root for them... I've been a fan since '83 and this is the most unlikeable team in Rockets history... So lethargic... They feed off James
It is coaching. Period. There has to be a coach that can steer this ship. Not utilizing Ty, letting Harden get away with his stupid turnovers, not feeding Howard consistently. Who is to blame?
