But the awards part is definitely subjective. I don't watch enough non-blockbusters to have real opinions on if someone was legitimately snubbed, but it is stunning that the Oscars would be this was in back-to-back years, especially when SAG awards & Golden Globes include more minorities for what are mostly the same awards.
Okay, but then you're getting into a situation where only a small handful of perceived "snubs" can be cited as evidence there is racism. Last year, the entire controversy was that "two" African Americans didn't get nominated...and it was for the same movie (Selma), which actually got nominated for Best Picture. Those two were literally the only legit contenders that the media could put forth as a worthy nomination that got snubbed. That has a lot more to do with the pool of movies up for consideration than it does with Academy voters choosing to nominate one actor over another. The argument basically becomes these two guys should have been nominated or it's racism. That just seems like a pretty elementary analysis.
I think I'd need dumber friends if we're supposed to enjoy the Martian. I am done with Matt Damon sci-fi movies. (although I am a sucker for sci-fi so I will probably watch his next POS as well...)
Isn't Katniss described as olive skinned with grey eyes and straight black hair in the book? Sounds like someone from the Mediterranean to me.
LOL, please google that. Lucasfilm was around years before starwars. When you realize you were wrong, write a page long reply about how I am off topic.
She is, the book is very ambiguous about race any ways outside of Rue and Thresh who were described as having dark skin IIRC. It is a book that takes place in the far future. If Katniss was described as white then I don't see how people would have an issue with that casting call. She isn't though, so a casting call for just white actresses is very curious.
My source, is www.IMDB.com. Lucas was an Indie film maker but A New Hope wasn't. He took a deal with Fox for the first movie if he could keep the sequel rights.
Fox distributed all of the movies. You are proving repeatedly you are just in this thread to argue. You read things, and have no idea what they mean.
Fox also paid for the first movie and owned the rights to it. How is that indie again? http://articles.latimes.com/1997-02-06/business/fi-25849_1_star-wars Man, you have no idea what you are talking about and I'm starting to wonder if you have serious comprehension issues or you just can't admit you were wrong. Just do it man, just admit it. It'll make you feel better.
Reminds me of the Mexican telenovelas that somehow feature a bunch of white people in a brown country.
They would only get upset about it if Al Sharpton told them to get upset about it....then they'd be furious.
Lol yeah, because black people are all of one mind and have anointed Al Sharpton as leader of all black people!
Oh yeah, he is...I've been quoting him all throughout the thread...it's not like there has been decades of actors and directors speaking on the issue no, this is all because of that rascally Al Sharpton! Who of course was first brought up by you.
You just fell over the tard cliff quickly approaching impact into full r****d canyon. Instead of using your Spock rocket boots to save yourself you are just propelling faster and faster to impact. As the excitement builds you think to yourself this is gonna be GREAT!
As usual, all you can do is resort to insults and snark when you were proven wrong. How disappointing and very immature.
You have put yourself in a position where you are arguing that multi-billionaire george lucas had genuine problems getting a film funded. It might be the dumbest position of all time. To justify it based on the investment in the first star wars is equally asinine. It's like talking to a brick wall except a brick wall serves a purpose.
What, I've never said that? Quote where I even implied that Lucas couldn't fund a movie himself? All I said to you was that you had no proof that he lied about what he said. You can't prove that he lied about it, you just believe that he lied about what he was told. You are shoving that in my face as if it's fact. He didn't say he couldn't fund the movie himself, he's saying what he was told why they wouldn't fund it. When hey didn't he looked elsewhere. Another thing, I never justified it with the original Star Wars lol. When I corrected you about ANH not being an indie film I wasn't even thinking about Red tails, I just thought it'd be fun to correct you. Him being able to fund his own movies doesn't mean that he lied about what he was told. I mean it's convenient for you to simply think he lied with out any information that backs that up I guess. So you have that going for you. I mean it's not like he's the only guy that's said this or something similar, should I believe them or you? Are you a director?
