We went the past several years and its fun. They only do a limited number of autographs and they sold out fast this year.

Boras doesn't really lose but this might be a once in a blue moon scenario here. There are not any good alternative options for him to leverage the Orioles against.

And Davis isn't at an age where he can take a 1 year deal.. maybe this is an ideal discounted-LT deal for someone the Astros could use. Let's see how it plays out.. I'm sure other teams will want him at a discount too, though

Chris Davis is a guy you sign even if you have to give up a 1st rd pick no doubt.

The Cardinals can get the money together if they REALLY want Davis.

There are teams with some money to spend.

    Yeah I'm annoyed too, but it's 1 year...not a big issue

FA after this season. I assume he's done here having gone to arb this last time. Esp knowing that he likely won't perform up to that number.

Boras cost A-Rod in his 2nd 10 year contract. He was also the agent for Stephen Drew & Kendrys Morales, who were cost millions by not taking the qualifying offer a couple of years ago.

More than what was estimated by about $300K.

People on MLB Network think Davis will end up in Houston and that it makes the most sense.

I think it makes the most sense too. Chris Davis can play 1B/3B/DH. Those are literally the three weakest positions on the Astros (along with Catcher).

    Altuve 2B
    Springer RF
    Correa SS
    Davis 1B
    Gomez CF
    Rasmus LF
    Gattis/Reed DH
    Gonzalez/Valbuena 3B
    Castro C

    That lineup is just nasty.

We really need to stop saying he can play 3B. He can't. He can as much as Gattis can play LF and C...as in, they shouldn't happen, but they might occasionally while pissing everyone off.

If AJ Reed and/or Tyler White are ready, we might not have as much a hole as people think. But if Davis comes at a discount, it's certainly not a bad thing to have excess talent to move.

    This.

Davis is a 1st/DH and that is it.

Boras can talk about his ability to play 3rd/OF all he wants, but you are not going to suddenly stick him there after ten years at 1st.

Also, for those saying Davis makes the most sense for the Astros, they have Reed, White and possibly Fisher down the road.

I am not saying that Davis won't be an Astro, but he isn't a perfect fit.

If they REALLY want to go all in........

Sign Davis, and trade for LuCroy.

    1st - Reed
    2nd - Altuve
    SS - Correa
    3rd - Valbuena
    C - Lucroy
    CF - Gomez
    RF - Rasmus
    LF - Springer

    ORDER
    Altuve
    LuCroy
    Correa
    Davis
    Springer
    Gomez
    Rasmus
    Reed/White
    Valbuena

Springer in the second spot or leadoff. Not at 5. We need speed and OBP at the top.

While that makes sense...just f'ing go after LuCroy please. Such a clear need/fit + right timing for this team more than others (since most can use a good catcher). Whether or not they want Davis after that is irrelevant to me (and maybe dependent on who they have to move to get LuCroy)

Lucroy played 3 years at ULL as a Ragin Cajun and has trained there in the offseason. I think he even resides in Lafayette with his family. What's that now..4 hours from Houston? Seems like a perfect fit.

I think Castro is a fine fit as the starting C. Would much rather use our resources (both financially and systematically) to go get a controllable SP.

Chris Davis would be a great fit but do the Astros even think about spending money ?
