I was also a Yao fan. Tried to be a Yi Jianlian fan, but that guy showed no heart. In addition, my favorite players have been: Kevin Garnett Tim Duncan Michael Jordan Jason Kidd Gary Payton Drazen Petrovic Scottie Pippen Shawn Kemp Grandmama/Mugsy/Zo Joakim Noah Chris Dudley Matt Maloney Bill Bradley So I have been more than just "a Lin fan period".
Honestly very few of us that post here are likely just Lin fans. I'm also a Knicks fan and use to be an MJ fan. I think we just root for an underdog with some class and ethics as opposed to guys like Harden, who while VERY talented, is threatening to be the West Coast Melo until he matures. BTW - You all are welcome to get on the "Zinger" train. Kid may end up being something special.
Don't let your hate cloud your judgement. It does seem "a "good game" is subjective to you". Any knowledgeable nba fan knows that 19 points on 11 shots from a bench player is a good game (and what does how many teams he has played for factor into whether he had a good game? Your bias is so obvious it makes you sound irrational). You realize the worse a player is perceived the more impressive the 19 points become. If you don't think 19 points is a good game for Lin, you must have some crazy high expectations for him. Answer these questions. How many times has a starting or bench pg scored 19 or more points for the Rockets during the whole season? How many times has any bench player scored 19 or more points for the Rockets in the past 10 games? The answer to both questions is 1. Obsessive hating of someone really messes up your perspective, huh?
I liked Bernard King from the Knicks back in the 80's. Too bad he hurted his knees and never got to play with Ewing.
Anyone can be a fan of any player they want, and as long as they don't talk smack about the Rockets I'm glad they're a part of this board. Tinman doesn't know what he's talking about. Incoming: "I'm not a 99er so I should be discredited." "Harden has had more success than T-Mac."
Yet here you are on a Rockets board making a list like that and managing to be a Bill Bradley fan (granted, a great player back in the day), but not a fan of Hakeem Olajuwon. With all due respect, I find that more than a little bizarre.
Are we welcoming utah jazz fans as well? No? Why? It's a board for rockets fans period. Are you a rockets fan???
Hell yeah I'm a Rockets fan, doesn't mean I'm bothered if a Spurs fan or Grizzlies fan is a member..as long as they're not trolling. I value perspectives from fans of basketball, and people can bring insightful information to this board without being exclusive "rockets players only" fans. I'm a fan of Bobby Portis because I go to UofA law school and I've gotten to see him play multiple times. Does that mean I should only be on a Bulls forum? Your rhetoric is sickening, dude. Stop acting like you own this site
There are a few fans who also like other teams on here, but they are primarily Rockets fans. The LOFs are fans of NO TEAMS, they've been banned from most sites they join. You don't think the LOFs are trolls? When their dogs bark of racial inequality to divert any criticism that Lin sucked? If you welcome termites to your house, don't get pissed if the walls start crumbling on you. If you do not see the evil, then you are the evil. I'm against evil We're 99ers. We came for the original reason. you need to remember what that is.
You start making decent points but then you revert to the type of language used in those last three lines. Honestly I don't see how being a 99er means much. Your point would be better served if the site had been around long enough for people to be 94ers or 95ers. Joining a site about the Rockets in 99 could simply mean that people became bandwagon fans after the championships and lingered in their fandom long enough to join. I don't think that's the case with you, but I just don't think it holds the kind of weight that you think it does. Anyway, I'll stop being so defensive but I hate seeing people get bullied on a site where people go to relax and maybe not worry about other problems in their lives. Not to mention, LOFs aren't really as much of an issue as they used to be (this thread notwithstanding).
You mentioned the 99ers first in your post directed at me. If I'm Ironman, and you ask me about the Avengers, I will tell you that I'm an Avenger.
Actually it's the other way around and id argue that most of these cases are not even fans of the Rockets. We've been over this, ya dingus.
What, MemphisX, foolishazn, gunawanspurs among others. Hell, even Kelly Dwyer couldn't give a rats ass about the Rockets. Doesn't make a difference. As long as they don't $hit post, clutch has allowed them to stick around...since the beginning. I've said it before, i enjoy reading other fans opinions especially since i like watching NBA games in general. They are more than welcome in my book.
