I would LOVE this deal, but I think we'd have to add more value. Jones/KJ/pciks would have to go as well (which I am completely fine with!)
I doubt anything goes down on the 15th, its possible but I think the more likely scenario is the 19th before the deadline. Morey like to weigh all his options, usually waits until near the end.
Yes. Gay is on the books for 2 more seasons. He doesn't defend. He doesn't pass. He doesn't get to the foul line very much. He does shoot a lot with very mediocre efficiency (worse than Ariza from 3).
All true, except: He does shoot 46% from the floor, something Ariza would salivate over. And he only attempts 15 fg a game. I wouldn't say he shoots the rock a lot.
I saw that the Kings offered a Gay for Ryan Anderson move. I want Ryan Anderson but seems like the price on his is pretty high at the moment. Gay is a better player than anything we would want to offer, save for Ty (assuming good Ty). I don't see the team making a move now, especially a move involving Brewer and Jones. Rockets have been playing well as of late and a pretty big part of that is due to our bench. Brewer is still a pretty terrible offensive player but he has been hitting 3s at a respectable level and getting out in the break. I actually don't mind JB's method of offense/defense with him and Thornton. I still think Thornton needs more time though and moving Brewer seems to be the only way. Jones has been huge as of late. His stock is probably the highest its been since the 2014 season since 2015 was full of injuries and how badly inconsistent he has been this season. Don't see moving him unless we get a replacing PF that would immediately help our team (Ryan Anderson. Please?) Even harder to move him now with Dmo out and not himself. I think we stay put or make some minor moves for more depth or picks to sweeten later deals. We still have that 15th roster spot and I really think we should go after a big veteran center that could back up Capela when Howard sits and is a very capable rebounder.
I would rather trade hime than lose him for nothing in FA. At this point I wouldn't give him half the money he is probably going to ask for.
As I stated earlier in this thread. I don't think Les and Morey are prepared to throw in the towel for this season and start gathering assets. This could be the final season for Harden and Howard, so I think they only trade Jones if it improves the team THIS year.
If you dont trade 2 inferior players who have shown their negative value throughout the whole year because of a 5 game stretch, id be willing to fir morey on the spot, and i think hes the best gm in the business, regarding trades. Brewer does one thing above average...transition O Jones doesent do anything above average They are two players who will not take you anywhere if you depend on them in your main rotation. Getting rid of them for me is more important to our season then anything other then health.
