But what if Les and Morey want to try and win this season? Trading Jones for a rookie or a pick may be better for the team after this season. But, this may be the last year for Harden and Howard together. Do the Rockets want to gather assets this year, or make one final attempt to win with Harden and Howard? The team is starting to play better, is now the time to blow it up? I thought we were in win now mode. Also, as crazy as it sounds to some of you. Maybe Morey will keep both DMo and Jones until next summer before deciding which player he would like to keep. DMo's bad back complicates things in my opinion. Maybe Morey will want to keep the player he can get at the lowest price. We don't know who that will be at this time.
Well Portland doesn't really have a true PG type player, I think you can ask a Portland fan and they wouldn't mind trading for a backup PG that can pass. Not saying Lawson may be the guy they will be looking for, but for example they have played Tim Fraizer (scrub) 25 games averaging 10 mpg because they like running a PG with CJ when Lillards on the bench. The cap is going up by 30% right? 30% of 7.6 is like 2.5, so Brewer will be on the equivalent of a 5 mill contract with 2 years left come this summer. Let's also not pretend that Brewer hasn't been playing significantly better his last 20 games compared to his first 19. You can look up his stats and he's up in everything, he's getting better and IMO will be back to being a solid backup by the end of the year. Brewers contract will probably not be viewed as possitive, but horrible is a big exaggeration. Trust me, when u see the contracts being given this summer to scrubs Brewers contract will likely look fair to mild. But anyways thinking about that trade I proposed, I'd probably rather keep Lawson, he's worth more to us as a backup then dumping him for nothing (unless his contract is needed in a trade).
Do you think that Morey and Les have the delusion that they can win with this team this year? Win over GSW or SAS and Cavaliers? I hope not otherwise there is something very wrong with them. I know (and by know I mean I am vaguely aware of ) Frazier but what I forgot to ask you in the previous post is who the heck is Montero? Never heard of him before. Why overcomplicate stuff when you can make it simple. The Blazers should't be interested at all for Lawson. He has let's say dubious history and influence in such a young and impressionable team (which IS a factor). Instead you can phone Martin and make sure he is agreeabe to join the Rockets.( cyber has said he doesn't want to at all). Then make sure he will opt out of his option next year by guaranteeing him enough playing time. If Martin agrees then you can trade for him with the Houston second rounder. Because that's what he's worth is more or less. And give Jones to Portland with Brewer as compensation. This will give Oshley some leverage with having two rfa fighting and see who looks better and choose who to pay and keep. (Leonard and TJ). Keep Lawson. Now as far as the cap rise is concerned: portland has positioned itself for a quick rebuild with too much capspace to attack in free agency or be involved in a blockbuster trade. Brewer's salary is a burden. They don't have the luxury to take it slow since they will have to pay very soon three or four of their players that their rookie contracts are nearing their end. Brewer is only going to get older and is never going to be able to shoot well or defend well. He is what he is. And now he is overpaid. It's not an exaggeration that his contract is horrible. If you don't think so tell me 10 worse contracts in the league right now than Brew. (and see if he's not included). I put Asik, Chandler , Kanter, Pekovic (with an asterisk due to the possibillity of medical retirement) over him. Then?
I think Les is holding out hope that the team can come together and they can make a run. One of our Championships came during a year where we didn't perform all that well during the regular season. I also think they want to give Harden and Howard the best chance they can to win. It took Morey a longtime to build this team, so I don't think they are ready to give up on this season just yet. This was supposed to be the year, I think they may want to just play it out. So, you are saying we should tank because in your opinion we have no chance at a championship this season? Possibly the final year of Harden and Howard.
We're not trading TJ now and why would we? It's dangerous with D-Mo's injury problems and Montrezl is a hustle player, but TJ shows he can still have a huge impact.
I get that you hang your hope on that magical championship run 20 years ago. The aspect to worry about is that we had major flaws last year with our bench intact, with a decent PF (Josh Smith) We were not better than the Clippers with Paul, and we were not better than the Spurs, GSW and Cavs last year. How do we make a run when the team is worse than last year? Well I guess you suggest we have just blind faith and Lawson.
Well, I have no problems with blowing the team up. I was just trying to look at things from the perspective of Les and Morey, and trying to predict what direction they may go in regards to trading Jones and or Brewer. Many people here think we are about to start trading players, while I think it's possible that Les and Morey may want to finish this year out with this group of players before going in a new direction after the season is over. I'm not saying it's what I would do, but it wouldn't surprise me if Les and Morey would do this.
While I admit that Tjones has been playing better. We all know he will go into a funk and not come out. His rebounding and defense are poor at best. He is another mini Dwight, if he's "feeling" good, plays a great game. If not, he's no good to you.
going into funk sounds like a reoccurring theme this year doesn't it by ALL the players. including the best ones.

You guys are rediculous, as I personally think our bench isn't really the issue. You need to let Lawson go for a 3 point shooter as that's about it. 40 games and the guy still hasn't won us one game or really even turned it around for that matter. Our starting lineup wasn't cutting it, but with the emergence of arizas shot and Dwights dominance down low, this team is a contender again. If Dwight continues this alongside a playmaking Harden I can see us top any in the west outside of GS
calling people ridiculous and not even mentioning defense which is the rockets main problem shows a ton of knowledge there
