No, you're so right. Ty Lawson has been a great addition to this team. I mean, who else can shooting 37% while playing horrific defense.
It's a scenario of high risk and high reward. We can stop playing Lawson and let this team continue with this lineup and we'll win a good amount of games. Maybe eek out a fourth seed in the playoffs. After that? Best case scenario is a second round exit Or play Lawson more (who was starting to play pretty well prior to the suspension) maybe not win too many games until we eventually turn the corner and then make a run in the playoffs. This team is mediocre at best without Lawson. With Lawson, there's a risk for a crash and burn, but there's a chance that we can actually integrate him into the offense and make a run at the championship. If y'all want a ring, Lawson has to be apart of it. Like I said above, Lawson started to play well prior to the suspension. He was attacking the rim and shooting well from the floor but most importantly he was getting good assist numbers. In his 6 games after his first suspension, he averaged only 8.7 points per game but was still shooting 53% from the field, 39% from 3, and 83% from the FT line. Most importantly he was averaging 4.5 assists to 1 turnover. That assist to TO ration is amazing. He was only getting 23 mpg, but his numbers were looking good. Oh and he was +11 in the ORL loss and +16 in the ATL loss. He, however was -16 in the GSW loss, but he was defintely helping us on the court from that stint. We need Ty Lawson.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/HOU/2016/lineups/#lineups-5-man::13 That highlights some of our best five-man combinations that we've put out on the court this season. Although they have only shared 60 minutes on the court together, Lawson-Harden-Thornton-Ariza-Capela has been dominant. The only problem is that lineup gets outrebounded badly.
I think we should buy him out. It's pretty clear to me that he doesn't fit on this team. Only other option is to have him get some sort of mystery 'injury' until we get into the playoffs. It's possible we go up against a PG driven team like the Clippers where Lawson might actually be a valuable asset. I don't think we should try to re-integrate him into the rotation unless there is some injury to a back court player.
And Clippers are something like 9-0 without Blake Griffin Maybe they should just cut him I swear some of you are so dumb...........
I woulda like to use Lawson as trade fodder if he has any value. Bev is a better shooter, and if he ever regains his fullhealth (which I am skeptical of) I expect his defense to improve.
pretty much. can't wait til the 3s stop falling and the original problems come up as always. classic overreaction without even looking at the games lawson has even missed. acting as if the wins were all great basketball against quality teams not to mention how the other players have played
I agree with this.... Not only are they rebounding as a team, they are playing as a team... Since overtime of the last game, they have been moving the ball on offense... They have the players to be successful.. They just need to have the mindset.. T_Man
How have we been foolish enough to not see that Ty Lawson is just as good as James Harden? If Harden over a five game stretch can play nearly as poorly as Lawson over 30+ games, then surely they are equivalent. This is just expert level math, guys.
with that said take Lawsons career and compare it to what he's done so far this year and ask yourself who's more likely the real ty lawson. btw its much more than just a 5 game stretch
harden's probably shot 40% or below is over half the games this season just by remembering all the games ive seen. if you havent noticed he isnt shooting too particularly well this season
So your best guess at a number is not actually a stretch of games and even then it's literally half of the monstrous(ly terrible) stretch of over 30 games Ty Lawson has put up. Good job. Just to end this utter stupidity for good, let's go ahead and compare what they've done over the season thus far. Harden: 42%FG, 34%3P, 58%TS, 33/16% AST/TO, 111 ORTG, 28 points per game Lawson: 37%FG, 31%3P, 47%TS, 26/20% AST/TO, 97 ORTG, 6 points per game But yeah Lawson is great.
yeah so for harden who has the green light to do whatever he wants. Those numbers are impressive huh? yeah not really. Lawson who has had the same green light at the pg position previously but is now delegated to become a spot up shooter in limited minutes with limited opportunities. Oh and on a brand new team not to mention off the bench. Why isn't his numbers up to par with Harden? hmmmm I wonder. Doesn't take a genius to figure that out. Some people here just don't have realistic expectations on how difficult it is to find the right role and become comfortable in it. They think you just plug and play.
If Harden "has the green light" while Lawson's responsibilities are much smaller, why are Harden's percentages so much better? You do realize those are percentages right? You don't know what you're talking about. Stop posting. It's embarrassing.
Lawson in no way shape or form has been relegated to a spot up shooter. That is just nonsense. He has had plenty of time without Harden on the court and has plenty of opportunity to run with it. He has just been plain bad. Now, he has been better lately, possibly getting more acclimated with the players around him, but Lawson's struggles are his own, not someone else.
