You could ask him the same thing about Terrence Jones, Khalil Mack or Teddy Bridgewater. I think he has alarms set on his phone whenever someone on the internet mentions them
over the course of a season I understand That said . .. when you in a 1 and done situation He has already had 4 turnovers and you only down 13 . . . . . . . how much worse could weeden have been? Seriously . . . . . Take a high school QB . . . . and drop in him the league right now Would you predict 4 turnovers in a half?? Eventually the kid would just tuck it and run or something different and those interceptions were just horribly thrown balls Rocket River
I don't even truly mind Bobby; I know he has his detractors - but the constant seeming search for validation seems desperate. Like, we get it - can some of the rest of us discuss the team/game without you constantly jackhammering the same post into the conversation?
The only reason to keep Hoyer is if there is absolutely no one else available. Under no circumstances should he be kept if a decent alternative is available. Honestly at this point I would take Weeden at his contract and save the 4-5 million cutting Hoyer to improve other positions.
If there was no one here still trying to defend Hoyer for whatever reason, then there would be no reason to point it out, AND you wouldn't be getting butt hurt simply because I stated the obvious. It's okay, let it go.
Never seen a bad QB like Hoyer in the NFL playoff game, what a performance from a Texans player! No a word can be described.
I'm just happy the crutch that has been Arian Foster is gone. He made these garbage QBs look more than average and he was the excuse BOB needed to keep this **** show going without actually addressing QB.
I've not provided any defense of Hoyer. BOB's decision to stick with him because he didn't have a better alternative? Sure. But not of Hoyer, generally or for his play Saturday - not unless you think equating the QB situation to "a toxic spill" is a defense? Or suggesting throwing him (and Weeden) into a "giant pit of suck" is a defense?
No; of course not. But we do have quite a few people who think Brandon Weeden was a viable alternative. (And someone else who thinks a 17-year old would have been at least as good, so... you know.)
Notifications may be full. There's a 270 page DMo thread and a 40 page Bridgewater thread on top of all the Texans QB threads
In roundabout ways, yes, even now. There are some that think it would have been a mistake to pull him while he was single handedly destroying any hopes the Texans had at winning. Suggesting that Hoyer was so much better than Weeden that he gave the team the best chance of success.....that's greatly overrating and defending him. Fortunately it's only a small group that see eye to eye with BOB on Hoyer.
I will give you $100 for each and every post of mine where I mention pulling Hoyer would have been a "mistake" or call him "so much better" than Weeden.
By saying that there wasn't a viable alternative, you are suggesting that the way Hoyer was playing was better than you'd get from anyone else and that is false. In fact, I doubt many would agree with you outside of the Brian Hoyer fan club (Mr. Clutch), relatives of Hoyer, or BOB himself. Anyway, this is getting tiresome and I know that your opinion on this issue is a tiny minority of the fanbase and of those who pay attention to the NFL so we shouldn't waste any more time on it.
So... couldn't find any posts?...... Challenge unaccepted! And no, since I never used the phrase "better than," that's not remotely what I said. What I said is that Weeden is an equally lousy QB and to expect him to perform better - while not getting 1/1000th of the same preparation that Hoyer did - is pulling a Men in Black memory wipe on everything you've known about the NFL since 2012.
Hoyer was playing especially poorly, he couldn't even hit his targets when he wasn't pressured, I know you have sort of backed yourself into a corner here and you don't want to concede the obvious, but Weeden has never played a game as bad as Hoyer did in his entire life.....why would you think he'd play that bad if he came in the game?
