Getting Conley and Batum is a dream scenario , but I'm not sure how realistic it is . Are those guys even going to be free- agents this summer ? Conley will command a max . Also do we have to let Dwight go to make this happen ? Batum will command max or near max as well . Ariza or Brewer would have to go maybe both . Dmo is also up for contract renewal . If we could find a way to keep one of Dmo or Dwight as well as one of Ariza and Brewer we probably have the best team in the NBA for 3 years . If we can somehow keep both Dmo and Dwight then on paper we are unbeatable . Conley / bev Harden / KJ Batum/ brew Dmo/ Harrell Dwight/ cap Unbelievable, but again I have no idea if this is even possible , and we can't trade for these guys this year don't think . In terms of this year , maybe we can do things that help set up that scenario for next year without also hurting our chances of things start to break back in our favor . Using TJ and Dekker to maybe gain an asset that we can either flip in a sign and trade , or use jet or Lawson in a similar manner . I happen to think our squad this year is still strong and will round into much better form soon .
Your post makes a lot of since Out of your list I think DeRozan & Horford would help the most only bc Harden is the defacto PG and we could survive with Bev and a respectable back up PG
Is the consensus negative on Melo still? Dwight for Melo + DMo/KJ for Whiteside & Anderson? Just don't touch the face when this upsets everyone... Bev/Lawson/Terry Harden/Thornton/ Ariza/Brewer Melo/Jones/Harrell Whiteside/Capela/Anderson Take a deep breath before responding. Gets Knicks out of the Melo contract while protecting us from Dwight potentially walking this offseason. Protects us from having to overpay Dmo while getting a young defensive minded center that isn't going to demand the ball so he can continue to pretend he's a post up player. I know the consensus has been Melo is a team cancer etc...maybe being on a team that could actually compete could turn him around.
Meyers Len. He's on a bad slump shot hasn't been falling this year, mins down, but he will space floor here, both on expirings Rockets in - Meyers Blazers in - jones Both are on expirings
An awful fit wth are you talking about?? DeRozan is an All-Star who plays defense and team ball He can create for himself and others He would be an instant upgrade over Ariza Brewer KJ Dekker Thornton
Lol trying form your Lithuanian front court. I don't think Raptors would go for that. Howard isn't a big enough upgrade to compensate the age, health and contract difference.
DeRozan is awful. He's selfish, takes ton of contested mid range jumpers. I saw many years of him in Toronto.
Actually I was hoping for DMo to leave Houston in a trade with Howard, but two expirings doesn't make sense for Toronto, who just resigned Valanciunas. I don't care about Valanciunas, I'm DMo only fan.
I do wonder if we could snag Whiteside with Capela though. I love Capela as much as anybody else, but if we can deal Howard to a third team for a significant player, and Capela for Whiteside I think it would be a pretty good move. Miami doesn't want to dish out another big contact I'm sure and Capela is a solid young ce get on a rookie deal for 2 more years, plus he's used potential. Rockets get upgrade at center, with a healthy 26 y/o Whiteside, plus whatever good player or players we can get for Howard + other assets.
I'm not as high on Whiteside as many others are on here. Not because of the physical part of his game but the mental part of it. He strikes me as someone who would do something very stupid to cost you a big game in the playoffs.
More and more strange trades proposed here. What matters is there are only almost 2 more days to get rid of Brewer. But now that Billy King has been ousted makes me wonder, if any "arranged" trade with him is now nulled. That leaves only the Suns...? Hopefully Dumars is already in power in New Orleans.
