I love how I posted what I just posted, and what immediately ensues is about 6 posts of saying -You're a JOF -No he's a JOF -No you're a DOF -Give me your list of JOF'ers LOL funny stuff. You guys really are The Hateful Eight.
Anyone who suggests there is such a thing as a "Jones only fan" should either be immediately put on ignore or endlessly mocked.
It is funny, these modern days, Jones just does not have any fans left. Daywalker is a Talent Only Fan, Big Talent Only fan
I'm 17 and even I view this argument above as beyond childish. Grow up. You're a Jones fan? okay cool. You're a DMo fan? Great, you probably know more about basketball than the Jones fans... no need to spend your time whirling yourself into a a downhill spiral of anger.
This. No one loves jones, they just defend him from being labeled a garbage player. It's funny, save for this season where he actually has been garbage, it started last season to bash Jones. Certain posters started the garbage narrative last season when he wasn't statistically garbage... But hey...
Well in that he is a garbage player, if you feel the need to "defend him" from that accurate label, it's fair to suggest there is some "love" there. Some saw that he was a garbage player pretty early on, some are just now realizing it, and a very few still are trying to deny it to this day.
No. Not even close. Some PREDICTED that he was garbage, and are dug into validating their presumed Nostradamus level prediction. Jones has been serviceable to good prior to this injury last year. Anyone denying that is beyond incapable of reason. The stats & production do not lie. Hell he's even been good at times this year. And now that he's struggling after coming back from injury last year (clearly lost athleticism with the nerve injury) its some sort of ridiculous validation. You guys (the Hateful Eight as I referred you to earlier) are dug in, and looking for a standoff with your make believe enemy. You were ready to fire off before you even entered the room. It's F-ing stupid. A 17 year old just told you guys to grow the hell up FYI. That has to make you feel great.
It's adorable that you don't realize you are a part of this discussion just like everyone else. If there's a "hateful 8" you are certainly one of them and that kid was talking about you just as he was talking to everyone else. That lack of awareness goes right along with the poor player analysis you've contributed to the conversation.
Considering no one would be able to pick out TJones or DMo from on another using just their stats and advanced stats (say from basketball reference), it's peculiar certain posters started bashing Jones when he was actually producing. Certain posters hopped on the bandwagon earlier... I guess certain posters just knew his nerve injury would limit his athleticism a season later. I guess certain posters fall into the category of "a broken clock is right twice a day" but I don't see how anyone objectively looking at the body of work would have been able to make any sort of conclusions.
It's okay to admit that some people just saw things more clearly and earlier than you did. It happens. We all hoped that Jones would develop into a good player and it just never happened, we're all kind of disappointed about it even if some saw it coming.
Yep. I am guilty of walking into the room as well. Where you and other can argue about me if you want to is if I'm dug in and blinded by bias, stereotypes, etc. *If you want to accuse me of being that way than go for it. Its the internet. You hold the right to stand behind a keyboard and type like you have real power. Its a culture issue, and yes I am part of it too as an idiot for wasting my time thinking that internet discussion is anything more than a way to be divisive. Anyone else that wants to speak up and accuse me of this, feel free to speak up. I'm game and open to criticism, and wont hold it against you. ......................................................... Now that we got that out of this way... I do have something to comment on.... this part is Funny - "That lack of awareness goes right along with the poor player analysis you've contributed to the conversation" Little do you know or fail to pay attention to - D-Mo is my favorite player on the Rockets. I've defended him YEARS before he was even drafted (really since the Nike Hoops Summit) and thought he had the talent to be right up there with Pau, Dirk, etc. I made the comparison years ago that he wasn't a prototypical Euro Stretch 4, and that his likely comp was a 7 foot Scola. So I guess my "Poor Player Analysis" is attributing to the ignorance on the GARM. My apologies. But that whole paragraph above YOU WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE because it doesn't suit YOUR NEED to create a villain to open fire against. It is damn near impossible for you to see me as both a D-Mo fan, AND someone who is willing to dig in and see the positives that Terrence Jones has contributed and can contribute on an NBA basketball court. It just blows your G Damn mind.
This thread is about Donatas Motiejunas. It is NOT about Terence Jones. All the Jones lovers and haters can go start a thread and slug it out there. Leave this thread to the DMo lovers and haters. ... okay, maybe they are the same groups. carry on...
Broken clocks are right twice like I said. I'm just amazed how some posters were able to deduce jones future ability without using objective analysis. Kudos for abandoning logic and science!
....do you really think any of that is relevant though? Sure, maybe you had a positive impression of the player DMo would become, that's great, but what does that have to do with you being wrong about Jones? I was talking about how you were off base when it came to your impression of Jones' quality, not what you think about DMo, the two are completely unrelated. I'm certainly not making you out to be a villain, just someone who held an inaccurate opinion and is still holding on to it in some respects. From the start it was pretty clear that Jones was all athleticism and little to no skill, there was hope that he'd develop some of that over his first few seasons, but it just didn't happen. Even worse, his athleticism was killed by injury and he's no longer even the energy player he once was....it's time everyone accept this. For the most part, the vast majority have accepted it, and the "debate" that still happens is with the last few people clinging to hope that he'll turn things around.
Simply because you were incapable of figuring it out doesn't mean that those who did figure it out didn't use logic in their analysis.....it only means you didn't happen to figure it out and that whatever you used happened to be faulty.
One rough year doesn't lead me to believe the suggestion that Tjones is "garbage." I don't think Corey Brewer is a horrible player, and he's had a terrible start. TJhas been prety big for us in the past, and there was a point where he and Dwight had good chemistry in the post. Even with all of his injuries and inconsistency, I don't think DMo is going to be a bust for us either. Some seasons are just messy. This is one of them. Either way, none of our power forwards have amounted to a whole lot. Period. Does that mean they're the basura some of you claim them to be? Heck no.
Go back and find some "inaccurate opinions" I've made about Jones please. What... that he was productive? Is this propaganda & non-factual info??? - http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/joneste01.html That the Rockets SHOULDN'T "Trade him ASAP" because the Rockets didn't need rotation bigs since Harrell was "already better than Jones" back in August, and because D-Mo was apparently ready to go November 1st therefore there was no need for rotation bigs? Please enlighten me where I was not objective when it comes to Jones. I'd love to see some quotes. How does that relate to D-Mo... you tell me.... When have you ever been able to separate the two yourself? Be honest? Those two have been attached to each other on the GARM since day 1.... well maybe since Patterson and Morris were traded. You are as big of the problem with that as anyone if you are being honest.
