Is posts like these that make people want to ignore you. I just stated that I don't think he is a good QB and you equate that to "stand by your man".
It's posts where you make the case that BOB did the right thing sticking with a QB who turned the ball over on 4 of the first 6 possessions of the game that make people want to ignore you. Would Weeden have turned things around for the Texans? Probably not, but he'd have given them a chance. Sticking with Hoyer was nothing but waiving the white flag and it was done to save face. IMO the most embarrassing part of the game.
Quote me where I said he made the right decision. Go ahead, do it. Don't post anything else until you can do so. I'll be waiting.
Hoyer should have been given a couple drives in the second half to see if he could make adjustments, settle down, etc... He was clearly crapping the bed under the pressure in the first half. After the first two drives, I would have pulled him...not because I would think that we'd win (once Watt left, it was game over), but because I owe it to the rest of the players to play with someone that isn't completely crumbling under the lights.
It's really Hey Now! trying to make that case, and when people argue against him, you chime in about how you think Hoyer is better than Weeden, so sure, you never technically were making that case, but you were supporting someone who was. So we're clear then, you agree that pulling Hoyer for Weeden would have been the right decision and would have given the Texans a chance?
All I've ever said is that pulling Hoyer for Weeden would have given the Texans a chance, not that they would have won. I would have pulled him earlier, but I would have been fine if he had been pulled after the first or second possession in the 2nd half.
No. I agree that arguing about Weeden over Hoyer is like arguing for Mallett over Clausen. They both suck. It's a waste of time.
Then you are arguing for sticking with Hoyer....which is what I said earlier. If you think it would make no difference, then you think BOB made the right choice. You could have just said I was right earlier and we wouldn't have had to go through the last few posts.
No. I'm arguing that it doesn't matter and I'm arguing for getting over the 2015 season. It's done. It's over.
That's the same thing. It potentially did matter. Saying it didn't is like saying that getting on a lifeboat doesn't matter because it doesn't guarantee rescue so you might as well go down with the ship. That's just foolish. BOB was flat out wrong in sticking with his boy Hoyer till the bitter end....about as wrong as he was when he vouched for him and thought he could be a starting QB. Defending either decision in any way is just ridiculous. Fortunately the vast majority of people would never think of doing so.....but we have a few that still try.
No. it's like saying getting on a lifeboat doesn't matter because it's riddled with holes. That's common sense, not foolish.
It's also not an accurate analogy. The point is, the ONLY chance the Texans had was to bench Hoyer for just terrible play, some of the worst QB play ever in playoff history. Instead, BOB chose to stand by his man and let him bring down the team. That's indefensible and inexcusable. No one thinks Weeden is a great or even good QB, but there's almost no chance he would have been as bad as Hoyer.
Very accurate. You say the only chance the Texans had was too bench Hoyer, that's your opinion. You say there's almost no chance Weeden could have been as bad as Hoyer. Your opinion again. We all know you thought Mallet was much better than Hoyer and that you're now trying to make up for it by dumping on Hoyer. We get it. Now, let it go. Breathe in, breathe out. Now talk about RG3 vs CK. I know you love that argument too. At least it's about the future and not the past.
These were not turnovers where the CB's jumped routes This was not a fumble from a BONE CRUSHING HIT Those balls were all over the place The fumble was just nerfball hit him on the wrist I believe that in the second half Weedon would have 4 turnovers How many 4 turnover games has Weedon had? how many 4 Turnover halves? Rocket River
SMH, it has nothing to do with Mallett. Hoyer is one of the worst QB's in the NFL even counting backups. If you can't see that....well you might be BOB because everyone else can see it. When it comes to me saying that benching Hoyer was the only chance the Texans had, it's not opinion, it's fact. They had zero chance sticking with Hoyer who was having the 3rd worst QB performance in NFL playoff history.....a history that includes Tim Tebow, TJ Yates, and countless QB's from back when a 50% completion percentage and nearly as many interceptions as touchdowns was common among the top QB's in the league. Only 2 performances in that entire history were worse than what Hoyer was giving you. This really shouldn't be an argument and honestly it's kind of funny that you are even trying to argue the point. As to moving on, that's fine, but you don't forget the mistakes of LAST WEEK, or pretend they weren't mistakes. You acknowledge the mistakes that were made and then move on to talk about the future.
No; I'm throwing them all into the same giant pit of suck. To argue Brandon Weeden is better is just preposterous. So given that he has no physical or mental advantage over Hoyer, you stick with the guy who game planned with the first team all week; that's your only chance to salvage the game - that he'll settle down, you'll make the proper adjustments and the team can stay competitive.
