I'm fully aware of it. Hoyer isn't a good QB. Brandon Weeden isn't a lick better (and might actually be worse, frankly); he's just different. Are you honestly suggesting he had a better chance against that defense than Hoyer? That's just silly, agenda-pushing (in your case), anger/frustration for everyone else. Are you on, like, some probation where you're mandated to mention this every other post? We get it. Move along... They're not; they're all cut from the same ****ty cloth - you're delusional to believe anything else.
Yeah, I mean... maybe, with Weeden, they *only* lose 27-3?... I would love to go back in time and tell all these people that, in four months, you're going to actively, publicly champion the Texans playing Brandon Weeden in a playoff game.
You say that yet you clearly don't get it. I guess I should have known that even now there would be Hoyer apologists but it's just so ridiculous.
Hoyer was terrible and every other synonym you could think off...I was screaming that they make the change at the half...I was praying that they did. But as the head coach of a team that is only down 13 points at the half(a fluke gift wrapped TD on the opening kick), you have to exercise some level of patience... As terrible as Hoyer played, you still had a chance. Perhaps it was just a bad half...but being down 2 scores really isnt that bad. The fact that the Texans had the ball first in the 2nd half...it gave ONE more chance for Hoyer to exercise his demons...But one of his throws in that drive was so bad, the audio picked up "pick that s___ off" yelled by someone on the Chief's sideline. That throw shouldve anchored Hoyer to the bench the rest of the game...I can understand why a headcoach would give Hoyer some slack to figure out his issues, but given a chance to win a playoff game, Bill just put too much faith in a mentally broken QB. But when the Chiefs blew open the game with a 90+ yd drive for a TD, it was time to give Weeden a try...with about 20 minutes left in the game. Hoyer was given an opportunity of a lifetime, that MOST NFL coaches would not have given after the start he had. Bill gambled wrong... BUT what if Weeden came in, and the Texans were able to squeak by the Chiefs...and then get trashed the following week by the Patriots (zero chance we were going to win this game). Where does that leave the Texans in terms of the QB for next season??? Do the Texans continue this same BS next year? - I THINK NOT. Hoyer's inepititude was a blessing in disguise....There is zero chance that the Texans dont address the QB spot with the draft. ZERO. I expect--> Tom Savage to get a chance to start next season, Hoyer and another QB (Weeden/RG3) to compete for a back up spot, and the draft pick QB.
Who's apology for Hoyer? Stating he's a better QB than Brandon Weeden, beyond being fairly accurate, isn't apologizing for jack ****.
It simply isn't being in touch with reality. Yates and Weeden performed better against better teams than Hoyer did. Some still use his garbage time numbers and his numbers against the Saints and Titans of the world to justify his spot....that's delusional. Sticking with Hoyer was indefensible, yet inexplicably you are sitting here trying your damnedest to defend it.
Bout sums it up. Was like reliving Kubes force feeding us Schaub till the fans couldn't run him out of town fast enough. You can bet the only reason that Weeden didn't come in was the possiblity of proving O'B wrong.
Except it was worse because at least with Schaub he actually was a good QB at one point, with Hoyer he literally has never been a good QB at any level and yet we got force fed that BS anyway.
I would argue thinking the team had any chance, with any of those QBs, is not being in touch with reality. You're literally asking them to switch poop for poo-poo and pretending there's a difference. Given that, Hoyer worked all week with the first team game planning how to beat the Chiefs; that's his advantage. Putting Weeden out there in that situation, even if we could scientifically prove he's a better QB than Hoyer (he's not), places him at a disadvantage. Why are you bringing up Yates - are you unaware he's hurt? And, FYI, Weeden's two appearances this year, as a Texan, were against the Colts and Titans so let's tap the brakes and stop pretending he beat the Arizona Cardinals. Both are awful, and pretending one is better than other is just noisy nonsense.
Yates was one of the 2 street free agents that the Texans brought in that were better than Hoyer, that's why I bring him up. Thinking that the Texans should have stuck with a QB having the 3rd worst QB performance in NFL playoff history is ludicrous. He turned the ball over 4 times in the first 6 possessions....I'm not sure anyone would have done worse than that.
Weeden played the Colts and Titans, and Hoyer played better against those same teams. Once again a thread gets dragged into a bs finding mission
I think you're confusing my apathy for all the QBs as an endorsement/excuse for Hoyer, which is not the case. I'm just not going to stand around and let people talk themselves into Brandon Freaking Weeden.
Hoyerism is incurable, take one unbearable performance and call me in the morning. To say that Hoyer other than any other option in the second half is just wrong!
But you are endorsing Hoyer, even if you don't realize it. You are supporting the decision to let him stay out there killing the team without even trying to go a route that could work better. Again, it's indefensible, but you are doing your best to try and defend it. Fortunately there are relatively few still afflicted with it.
Raise your hands if you think Hoyer is a good QB. **crickets** Raise your hands if you think Hoyer should be the starting QB next year <<silence>> Raise your hands if you think Hoyer is better than Weeden who had never won a game before coming to the Texans? That, my friend is truth. Not Hoyerism.
