Odd to me that people can't grasp this. Athletes are human. Ego and feelings come into play, and Josh said HIMSELF that he was influenced in part by the timing and aggressiveness of LAC's contact.

Well yeah, but that just shows that he's kind of an idiot. A smart professional wouldn't have been duped by that.

I'm clear on your opinion. However, your original statement was that the Rockets did all they could do to keep him. That is debatable, in light of his statements. Whether they SHOULD have done more is likewise debatable -- but in my mind, separate and distinct from whether they COULD have.

That's fair, I think a better way of saying it would be that they did what should have been enough. They could have gone the wine and dine route and maybe that is what is most important to Smith, but if that's the case, he's a moron. Perhaps they should have known that he isn't very bright, I dunno. They treated him like an intelligent professional and I don't think you can fault them for it.

The absurdity of your position is only matched by your stubbornness to move away from it: money is not the only g*d d*mn consideration when making employment decisions. That said, let's just agree to disagree.

I never said that it was if you were paying any attention to what I was saying. The Rockets offered him the best fit with a coach that accepted him and the way that he likes to play the game, they also offered him the most potential minutes. I guess you just skipped over that part every time I've said that. If someone calling you a lot of times and taking you out to dinner is your main consideration when picking who you are working for then you aren't that bright.

When you already offer someone the best fit, a coach who accepts you (which Smith has never had before or since), and the most potential playing time, offering them the most money really should be all it takes at that point. Since it wasn't, and he turned down all of that, I just have to laugh at him when he racks up the DNP-CD's. He got one last night, he is currently getting another one right now.

Please don't assume he's gonna give you the last word.

    EDIT. Too late. See? ^^

Any news about the player the thread is titled after ? I hate how rockets don't give updates concerning injuries . This ain't the nfl here , no need to be cryptic regarding when a player will play .

When someone still fundamentally misunderstands what I've been trying to say, I will make a last ditch effort to help them follow along. I know, it makes you sad. I don't care.

Probably won't see him till after they make a few trades.

good guy DMo puts up with this fake injury shenanigans. Morey obviously promised to give 15M this summer for being a good boy.

What is the logic behind faking that DMo is injury prone? Are you saying TJones value will go up with a few more minutes last week and this week? Are you saying we are showcasing Harrell, and that that can only be done by moving DMo down to zero minutes? Are you saying we need to hide DMo from trade partners vs just negotiating as normal, without faking an injury? Does faking that DMo is injury prone risk hurting us in getting the best trades done?

Seems like a conspiracy theory that does not have to be made at all. I don't get why you'd suggest it. Is it as an answer to ppl who say DMo is injury prone? Pretending someone is injury prone by ordering an MRI and all that seems counter-productive to what Morey or any GM would want to do.

Heyp, it is similar to people who said Lin jumping to pass was a good thing. Blinding....

Logic is that only Rockets know about their players medical condition and current DMo situation suggests he's a big risk. Suitable bidders this summer may be very concerned and that works in favor of Rockets, since they want to resign DMo and do it for cheap. Also sitting DMo at this time of the year sounds too perfect. Rockets get to showcase their garbage in hopes to raise their value.
DMo posting picture of him on a thread mill the same day he's missing game due to sore back... If you have a sore back you don't run on a thread mill. Also no one explained why he was getting to play 6 minutes a game prior to announcing sore back? Too many suspicious things going on.

Yeah I don't think it's to that level. That was just annoying.

I doubt they're holding D-Mo out for secretive reasons. Seems like he just had a setback. Dude is coming off back injury. It might take him a little time. I hope he's in last year's groove by March.

Oh it is that level from a small handful of posters, that's the only difference. If it was 200 insane people saying the same things we'd feel the brunt of it

I believe they have done it in the past, I am not CERTAIN this is what is happening, but if you want to increase the trade value of someone you get them scoring a lot more points - to feel like they are on the rise...

If you play DMo you are not going to be playing TJo.....

Still doesn't matter, I don't think DMo is really hurt, or if he is it is super slight and they are being very careful.

Doesn't matter.....it is what it is.....there is no proof.......

The setback is real but I don't think they are in any hurry to get him back before they make some trades. I think he'll get better in a hurry shortly after the 15th.

So why not sit Capela instead of D-Mo, allowing Jones to pick up lots of minutes off the bench just as he's doing now?
