Wow think of all the tax the government collects on this. Basically from 8% sales tax to an 40% income tax right ? Lottery is such a scam.

I doubt this would be enough money to buy and run the Rockets, right?

I assume Les wants a cool billion just to open up talks.

Maybe the dynamo or some Triple A team would be more feasible

Would it be enough to run the team, pay player/administrative salaries and stadium expenses off revenue earned during the year?

Clippers sold for 2 billion. While the Rockets wouldn't go for that much (especially with the shenanigans of the CSNHouston deal), they would surely go for between 1 billion and 1.5 billion.

The Powerball winnings after taxes will be about 450 million by rough guestimate. Your best bet at owning an NBA team would be through partnership where you are the majority owner. You'd need about 6 to 10 other millionaire who could contribute the remaining 500 million to 1 billion.

There aren't too many distressed NBA teams, and you could be sitting on that money way too long waiting for a team to go back on the market. Probably have to look to other pro sports leagues to find a good landing spot. IF you win the powerball this week, I'd suggest investing a really good financial advisor first. Someone with wall street experience, and shop IPO's to invest in. Actually I take that back... get three advisors... each of which have no incentive to help each other out, and you need a 2/3 vote to bring an investment to your table. Spread your wealth over sound investments in up and coming companies. Take the money out of your hands ASAP because the longer you are sitting on liquid cash, the quicker it will go, and the more it will drive you crazy.

Real estate always pays off, but you have to pay alot of attention to what you own, and do the homework on every little property. Then you have the problem with larger properties (and huge homes) where maintenance can drain you quick. Give yourself just enough to get whatever you need, but not more than you can handle. Even raw land requires maintenance.

There you go. If you win the powerball tonight, you can mail my check for my 1% from the consultation. Good luck!

Paying a hobo a few bucks to punch him is also another form of cheap entertainment. Good stress reliever and greater ROI.

I bought $20 worth twice. It's a waste of money and could feed a few homeless people instead.

50% of the people live paycheck to paycheck. Just consider the $900 million a really big paycheck.

SO, the lotto simulator broke into 100+ years and I still hadn't hit.

I'll probably pool with some friends for the 1.3 billion still though.
