Oh, yeah. Just like he did at Ohio State. I think he's great in that role. And I'd think he'd be affordable to re-sign. Think about him matching up against guys like Shaun Livingston with the backup unit and it makes a lot of sense.

Evan Turner is a winner. He's just a winner. Does whatever is necessary to win. Stats and numbers don't mean anything. He's just gonna scramble on both ends to win the game. My kind of player totally.

Man I have been saying Ariza's defense has fallen off a cliff the entire year. There is a lot more to Houstons defensive problems than just a few guys. Our legitimate defenders ( Bev, Ariza, Dwight ) haven't been the same this year. I would look to trade Ariza as well but I would hope to god he could bring something a little better than Turner. 100% agree with the Parsons comment and the need for a #3 who doesn't automatically turn the ball over when he puts it on the floor. Too bad Oladipo is a pipe dream. He's not worth the package we could send to Orlando.

Kent Bazemore would be nice too. Wanted him in the offseason but everyone laughed at me for suggesting that lol.

Dirt cheap signing for Atlanta for what Bazemore brings to the table.

I wasn't indicating trading Ariza for Turner. I'd hope we could get more for Ariza too. I'd hope maybe Boston would let Turner go relatively cheaply. Or at the very least he's worth watching in free agency.

In any case, I can't emphasize enough how bad our perimeter D has been. We've got Ariza and Bev book-ending Harden as our top perimeter defenders and both guys have simply fallen off a cliff. And for what little skills they bring to our offense, unless they give us a top notch defensive thrust out there it just isn't worth having them out there. Every team we play is going through our perimeter defenders like water through a sieve. I hate to say it but I want both guys gone actually. I'd trade both guys (and Brewer too) for whatever I can get and look for other solutions at the 1 and 3.

I would love to keep Ariza but in a bench role. He would be one of the better bench players in the league. If iggy can come off the bench in GS than ariza surely can come off the bench in Houston.

    A bench of

    Ariza
    Ty
    Capela
    Harrel

Would be nice. We need to get a serviceable sf and PF or hope dmo returns although im open to including any of those guys in trade for an upgrade at PF or lesser extent sf.

This team needs a better real PF in the worst way. Capela at the 4 is really holding us back but jones just isn't that guy with dmo out we don't have many options.

Also I have to ask: what the hell is the deal with Josh Smith?!?! His ass is just sitting on the bench... It's crazy.

We have to get him back. I'd send KJ or Jones there way to get this done. It's just ridiculous he's not getting any minutes. He's perfect on this team.

We need veteran knifefighters in this locker room. Toughness around Harden and Dwight, we need more maturity and more grinders around our soft superstars.

    George Hill
    Luis Scola
    Brandon Bass
    Kendrick Perkins

Start changing the culture. We are GMing wayyy too much like a AAA baseball team... Get some solid vets to go with out youth. Get some guys that actually set screens and won't take Harden's ****.

If we're going to replace Ariza, the guy I want is JAE CROWDER. Second highest defensive plus/minus SF, shoots 35% from 3, can finish at the rim, not turnover prone, and locked up for another 4 years on a dirt cheap salary.

If we were to trade Dwight to Boston, he's the guy I'd want back. Maybe something like:

Dwight, Ariza, and TJones for Lee, Bradley and Crowder.

    Bradley / Beverley
    Harden
    Crowder
    DMo / Harrell
    Capela

You've effectively surrounded Harden with a bunch of guys that play "through the whistle".

For a Dwight trade that re-defines a supporting cast around Harden, I think this is a great way to build and retool on the fly. Crowder would be a great fit next to Harden as would Bradley.

Hopefully in this case you are also getting some draft picks, but regardless if you are possibly going to lose Dwight in free agency, or you are making the decision that you don't want him back at a max salary, its not a bad deal.

For Boston... I dunno where the Dwight intrigue is, but if they are into trading for him, I think this is a fair deal. If Ainge can also make another deal to bring in say Carmelo as well it makes the deal make that much more sense to win now.

I stopped watching Rockets games week ago. Did I miss something? Are we in OFFICIAL tank mode? Why do you want to trade Dwight?

Would love to have Crowder. What trade would you pose sans Dwight that would represent something Ainge would be interested in moving Crowder for?

I don't think anything short of Capela/DMo or some other combination with Capela would get it done. Crowder is locked up for 5 more years at a salary less than Corey Brewer's.
