    Herman is an emotional guy.

He seems like the type to jump at the shiny object in the room.

Texas would be an amazing landing spot where he can build a true power house.

    Ward is UofH.

I can tell that you haven't been following this thread.

The general consensus of the UH fans on cfans is that it is a very real possibility that he will leave but the way that he has conducted business and committed resources to building the program has placed him in much higher regard than Sumlin or any other recent HC.

We know that UH can't compete with UT or most other big name programs, but that's OK. If he leaves, we can at least respect that he did a tremendous amount for the program's future.

False. Not everything is about a "fat" contract. Herman has much more control here in Houston and like I said with a chance to make a legacy by turning UH around. With all the facilities he's asking for, and us to get in P5, he's not leavnig any time soon. Unless UH doesn't approve a new facility or we don't get in P5, then he'll probably leave

That'll completely the Texas football circlejerk trifecta of Baylor, A&M, and UT.

UH: too ****ty to share a conference with, but good enough to rebuild our programs for us.

Then why did he stay this year? UH was the most shiny object after him?

Great question, maybe he doesn't see the job he wants? I'm assuming colleges also want to see if it was fluky or if UofH is legit.

Herman is great for UofH, but it's most likely not his dream job.

You can ask ask ask all you want. Doesn't mean it will happen.

He doesn't have to ask UT/A&M of the world.

    They already have it.

Herman just completed his first year. No college football HC leaves after one year.

I cannot think of any major examples.

You mean if Herman is legit, right?

UH is one of the winningest programs in America over the last 10 years.

Ahh the whole "he is certain to leave but isn't ready for big time" line again. I like how it isn't "he probably will" or "may".... Just this arrogant assumption he will....

You obviously don't know the dynamics at UH if you really think someone is going to pull Herman aside. He has a level of power and control at UH that few coaches have. He can do just about anything he wants at UH.... Which is exactly what he wants, and why there is a fairly good chance he stays at UH. He has the backing to do whatever he wants inside the university. He also has promoted and forced long term improvements to the football program that are consistent with someone leaving anytime soon.

As far as his understanding of big programs.... He was at Ohio State, won a national title... He is quite familiar with the limelight and the pros and cons at that type of program (not to mention his disdain of boosters controlling football decisions).

No offense bro but UofH just doesn't compare.

I graduated from U of H, but I've seen all of this happen before.

    Correct!

But I think Herman needs to have another great year with a big bowl win.

That winning percentage is flawed. And I think you know why.....

They also have baggage he doesn't want and he will have far less control than he has at UH. He has quickly set up a fiefdom in Houston. So far he has turned down money, asking for it be put into the program... Signed an extension with virtually no negotiations other than increased funding for football specific facilities..... He has also emphasized the city of Houston in his recruiting and public comments ..... That isn't something someone planning to leave usually does (Sumlin and Briles certainly didn't do that)... His comments about the politics at Ohio State and the boosters/administrators are very telling. Reminds me a lot of Joe Paterno.

a lot of it is the facilities...can't compete at all with old facilities...we got the stadium done and now the other stuff is lined up. UH is in a much better position now, than when Briles and Sumlin were here. Herman just has to do his part. It's a huge advantage to be able to tell the top talent in the area they can stay at home, win, and get all the perks that come with it like any other program.
