Let us know when this happens. In the mean time I will consider you paranoid.

Every heard of Open Carry Texas? It has already happened in a bunch of locations and that group got a ton of backlash from it.

What you call paranoia, I call intelligence. I have no need to associate with open carry activists for any reason whatsoever.

Have they ever been involved in a shooting? If not, then you are absolutely being paranoid and irrational.

I wish I saw the world as black and white as you do, Bobby.

    Actually...no I don't.

And I have no idea if any of those gun fetishists have shot someone before (and neither do you). I don't just assume that they are pillars of the community and the most law abiding of us all.

Interesting. When and where did you encounter these people and what hills did you run for.

In my experience dealing with them, a lot of them are law students. Which makes sense if you think about it. If you want to do that sort of thing, you have to know the law better than the cops do and a lot of the time their goal is to educate the police that will inevitably be called.

Those really aren't the people one needs to be worried about.

Attention seekers who wanted a law passed. Their law is now passed. Ignore them and they will go away. No one will care about this next year.

Well it wasn't even about a law being passed, at the time they were carrying AR's which were and still are legal to openly carry, their goal was to educate the police about the law in order to make sure they know how to handle those kinds of situations in the future. I'm sure those people will still continue to do the same types of things, but they certainly aren't a threat to anyone.

My understanding was they were carrying rifles to get attention for the open carry agenda. The NRA made fun of them, they did more harm than good, and now they will probably go away.

It depends on the group, there are a lot of them. The one I was talking about in Austin, their goals were to educate officers and businesses along with the general public so that no one freaked out about it.

Now I'm sure there were some with other intentions and probably some that were just idiots, either way, nothing really to fear from those people.

The best thing for these people is to do the world a favor and gun each other down. They are waste of space and scum of the Earth.

This is just a bad idea. Good luck to your collapsing economy Texas. It repels tourists, good people looking for a bite to eat, etc...

LOL are you serious? You do realize that there are 44 other states that have open carry right? You do realize that there are 25 states that have open carry with no need for a permit?

    C'mon man, you're embarrassing yourself.

    Those 2 guys are idiots.

    1. if anything were to go down in chipolte that is a horrible weapon of choice a shotgun or handgun would be much more effective
    2. the chance for them to harm an innocent person while neutralizing a threat is much greater due to #1 which would lead to them being liable criminally and financially.
    3. they've lost the element of surprise which you would gain with concealed carry
    4. they've made themselves targets of someone who could attack at close range with the intent of disarming and stealing their guns

and that's just off the top of my head

    What could go wrong?

Texas Open Carry Gun Law Allows Firearms In Psychiatric Hospitals

Signs saying "no guns" in state-run psych hospitals had to come down.

The new law in Texas that allows handguns to be openly carried in many public places even permits licensed handgun owners to bring pistols into state-run psychiatric hospitals.

The unexpected feature of the open carry law became apparent when the Austin State Hospital recently took down its "no guns" signs. The development was first reported by the Austin American-Statesman and affects 10 mental health facilities, according to the Department of State Health.

On Jan. 1, a law went into effect allowing nearly 1 million Texans who have passed a safety course and obtained a permit to publicly carry holstered handguns. Supporters said it would enhance public safety, while detractors believe it will lead to more violence.

Prior to the hotly contested law taking effect, there had been debate about how the law would affect life on college campuses. A University of Texas panel recommended banning guns in dormitories, but the state's attorney general had said that would violate the new law.

The revelation about the psychiatric hospitals shows another way the open-carry law created unintended consequences.

Even an official from one of the state's largest groups advocating for the law told the Austin American-Statesman that he didn't envision an environment where guns would be acceptable in psychiatric hospitals. Texas Carry executive director Terry Holcomb said legislators should examine this aspect of the law.

The signs that previously said guns are forbidden on hospital premises have been replaced with ones asking people to leave their weapons in their cars or to keep them concealed.

Every restaurant that's not in La Porte has said open carry is not allowed in their establishment. Damn liberals!

Even without the 30.07 sign, if the business asks the open carry to leave, the open carry must leave or he can be charged with trespassing.

Is it the fault of the OC that this establishment did not order their proper signage?
