Yeah, there was a quip about the red head general choosing kidnapped children over clones used by a different general.

Wow. I think if I was running late, I would have just gone to another showing. Understand you couldn't have if you had your whole family, but wow....you missed the opening crawl and theme. That's half the fun of Star Wars!

Wasn't it Kylo Ren who said they should go back to using clones instead of these brainwashed children?

So I'm going a little off topic, but it's still Star Wars Related:

I'm watching the Star Wars animated series (still on season 1) which takes place between Episode 2 & 3 in the movies. There Anakin is given a padawan, Ahsoka, but there is no mention of her at all in the movies. Does she die at the end of the series? Also Anakin appears like a really good guy, willing to save the lives of others and even clone troopers before his in some episodes. Doesn't make sense how he could very quickly transform to the evil Anakin in Episode 3.

Also the clone troopers don't seem as dumb as they were portrayed in the movies. Most importantly, they are pretty good shooters in the cartoons, hitting their target dead on a lot of the time. They're also not just some mindless brain dead robots following orders without thinking. In the cartoons, they actually have character and personality. The newer clones are reckless and snobs... while the older battle-tested ones are rough and all are loyal. Very different than the movies, again.

And another irrelevant thought: how come a lesser sith master like Count Dooku can do the lightning power thing, but a much much much more powerful Anakin can't when he joins the Sith?

Ahsoka is also in Star Wars Rebels, I think the reason she's not in the movies is just because George really didn't care about characters beyond the movies.

As for Anakin's fall, well the Dark side is a slippery slope. Any one can fall quickly to it. That's why Yoda seemed almost paranoid when training Luke. It's why the Jedi code is pretty strict.

George really didn't try to connect the show to the movies. I'm not sure George knew much about what happened outside of his movies.

I believe it's because Anakin just is incapable of things when he's given his suit. He becomes more machine than human.

Rarely do I see people asking for massive spoilers in a star wars thread. Well done, but I would suggest actually watching. Awesome part of an otherwise crappy, and insanely out of order cartoon.

You are pretty much dead on here. Though Anakin was more than skilled and powerful enough to produce force lightening that particular force power needed to be facilitated through living limbs. That said the aspect of having mechanical hands did give Anakin an advantage that others did not as seen here...

In a lot of former "canon" in the expanded universe it was pretty much explained that Anakin, while having raw force power and potential never truly lives up to his full power. Additionally, once he was beaten by Kenobi and forced to live in a mechanical suit, he was severely weakened and could never regain his previous full abilities and potential. He basically never lived to his potential, kind of like Grant Hill...showed early success, never quite lived up to it, and injuries basically reduced him to effective, yet disappointing.

He was still very powerful for two reasons: his raw power potential in the force was so great (the greatest ever, allegedly) that even greatly reduced he was very powerful. The second reason is that after the Jedi purge, he just didn't have that much competition.

I think the movies pretty much reflect these facts, but never come out and say them.

I don't want to go into too much detail, but a couple of points:

    1. You may want to watch the original Clone Wars cartoon series from Adult Swim. Same animators as Samurai Jack and was actually a pretty great little series. I think the total run time was something like 2 hours since the episodes were 15 minutes long. Strangely enough, included in the "canon" of the series and has some great little tidbits like why General Greivous has trouble breathing.
    2. The full series Clone Wars is considered full canon, so Ahsoka "exists" in the universe of the movies. Interesting tidbits here: decent story lines, Anakin has a padawan never mentioned in the movies. I also think that this cartoon series, even with its sort of crummy computer animation had better "acting" and more fleshed out characters that the prequels. Anakin Skywalker and Obi Wan are actually kind of cool in the series and may offer some hints and tips to who some of the folks in the new movie may turn out to be (not mentioning just in case I spoiler something). Remember...this series is "canon" so the characters "exist" or "existed" in the movie universe.
    3. There is a series of books that are being written, with a couple already released: Star Wars The Force Awakens: Before the Awakening (stories of early life of our heroes), Star Wars Aftermath (basically the aftermath of the destruction of the second Death Star, and a visual Dictionary, which has some tidbits not in the movies. These books are now canon. All other books are "wiped clean". IN these new books there are subtle references to Ahsoka, but no more spoilers.
    4. Remember that the current Star Wars Rebels cartoon series is also "canon." Some think that there are hints into who people are in the movies from this series, or could go into more detail in the future now that Force Awakens is released.

But Rebels is set 14 years after ROTS and 5 years before ANH. So Rebels characters would be 70-80+ to be in TFA. I supposed the character Max VonSydow plays at the start could be a Rebels character, but he has never been mentioned in the first 2 seasons. I forget his name but i know he's someone new who is loyal and old friends of Leia's or something.

I thought kylo Ren was kinda a p***y whenever he took off his helmet. He looks like he's constipated and about to cry every time he takes he's helmet off. Defentitly could of chose a more badass Dude to play him.

I see tons of theories about Rey. I think it's pretty damn obvious Rey is Luke's daughter and kylo Rens cousin. Rey's father leaves when she's a child, Luke was training Ben but then vanished, Ren seems to have knowledge of Rey when he takes notice, it sounds like Kylo RENs mask saying "keep quite little girl" when her "father" leaves in the spaceship as a kid. I think Rey is going to end up being like a new Anika's or "chosen one"
