we're, well they're, holding opposing qbs to an 87 passer rating. with offenses designing their playbook to get everything out before the rush gets there, that's pretty incredible.

even that game against new england, D played awesome. if only we had not giving them possession in our own end of the field due to hideous qb play.

The defense has gotten key stops repeatedly. There is a ton of talent, literally and figuratively. The unit playing cohesively is magical to watch.

Offense just needs to get off their hind legs and do more, allowing the Texans defense to rest in order to have time for a breather before its on the field again on defense again.

We finished the year #3 in yards allowed per game for total defense and #7 in total points allowed. I think the yards allowed is more indicative of our defense since points per game can be skewed by special team returns, field position, and pick sixes, etc.

One of the main reasons we finally were able to beat the Colts at their home.

For the life of me, can anybody explain how the Carolina defense has FOUR dpoy candidates? Their defense is not the best in the league, which one would think it is.

"Since that first game, rookie linebacker Benardrick McKinney has taken over one of the inside linebacker roles. His pass stop percentage of 6.6 percent is second best among linebackers just behind Wesley Woodyard and just ahead of Luke Kuechly."

Interesting and encouraging that are big bodied, run thumping rookie ILB has some coverage skills. Huge credit to Crennel and Vrabel.

It's crazy how Texans fans treat Rick Smith. They credit every good pick to the coaches and every bad pick to the GM. If you give the coaches credit for McKinney, who do you blame for Rahim Moore?

Texans have invested plenty in their defense.... they should be lovable.

Rick (or whoever) had his best draft... props to him (them).

If he remains the GM, every true fan should hope he (they) does well.

This really was one of their best recent drafts. You have production and promise from your first 3 rounds of picks. And possibly some future promise with Covington, Cliett, and hopefully Mumphrey as well. Hell maybe even Kenny Hilliard can find his way on the depth chart next year with Foster seemingly being on his way out.

I like Hilliard's ability to run between the tackles, other than Blue, he's pretty much the only guy on the team that is fit to do so.

Agreed but 3 picks for strong was still a bad move IMO. That's two extra guys who could be making impacts on cheap rookie deals

Texans 3rd down defense is best in the league. (Least number of yards conceded).

Read the thread title and did a double take but then realized it's the Texans' forum.
