Why did we ever drop Fitztpatrick for Hoyer!?!?

Thankfully Hoyer managed to help the Texans to wins over the Jags twice, the Titans, and the Saints....AND he had the good sense to get himself hurt in the Bengals game so that Yates could get the team back in the game and stay hurt for the Jets game

They're both average.

Hoyer is less turnover prone and had a higher y/a, so edge to him

Plus longer system experience... which ends up being counterintuitive since guys with less experience in the system have also done ok in limited showings.

It's not a revision, it's exactly what happened. Hoyer was there when we needed to lose games or when we were playing the softest teams on the schedule, and he was hurt for all of the difficult games we had to win. He really did a great job of it.

 

Bad news for the Texans...had Mallett continued as the starter, the Texans would have had a chance for the #1 pick.

 

Nah, hes not a great QB, but he's better than Hoyer, that would mean they'd win enough games to not have a good draft spot but maybe not enough to win the division. I don't think the Texans beat the Bengals with Mallett instead of Yates for example.

 

Ravens did a good job of waking up Mallet so he could lose the last game and improve their draft position.

They signed him for next year so they appear to be tanking in 2016 as well

I give Bobby props for sticking to his narrative, no matter how wrong it has been and continues to be.

 

Not much.

They are all very competent back up quarterbacks that are starting due to a lack of good starting quarterbacks. I am sure Hoyer and Fitzpatrick will both continue to bounce around until no one wants them anymore.

Even more reason Manziel needs to get sober, so he can bounce around for the next 15 years starting for bad teams and holding the clipboard for good teams. Hell of a job if you can get it.

 

BoB expected Mallett to win the qb battle. Short of being named the starter outright, mallett had the easiest path to becoming this team's starting QB, yet still managed to screw it up. It's not BoB's fault that Mallett is an awful QB with poor punctuality.

It really is though. He vouched for both Mallett and Hoyer, they were here specifically because BOB said that they'd be good. Neither were good and Mallett had a bad alarm clock. We saw time and time again bringing in guys from off the couch and the all performed better than Hoyer. It just shows that BOB is terrible at evaluating QB talent so from here on out, I hope his opinion isn't considered when Rick Smith is picking the next QB.

 

If BOB started Hoyer all year, they'd probably be 10-6 or 11-5.

The whole Mallet thing is a real head scratcher.

I mean can't they tell in practice that Mallet completes well under 60% of passes, gets well under 6 y/a, throws tons of picks, has no deep ball accuracy and can't deal with any pressure whatsoever?
