Klay Thompson: I'm the best shooting guard in the NBA

Klay is trash on defense and look at his stats when curry doesn't play, he completely sucks

 

This just is NOT TRUE! where do you get that Klay plays defense?????? WHERE??????????????????????????????

 

I'm not saying one is better than the other, just pointed out the strength and weakness of those two players. I'm sure the GSW would be a much worse team if you swap Thompson with Harden, but you can say the same thing with the Rockets. I don't think they would be a better team with Thompson.

I know NBA is a star-based league, but people tend to over-emphasis the impact of the star players, especially on offense. This is a team game after all, a great team will beat a team with five all-star everyday.

 

Thompson does the dumbest thing all the time, but he tries hard on defense, and his length gives him an edge on defending the smaller SG most of the nights.

He is not a great defender as many made him out to be, but he is decent overall, slightly above the average. That says a lot when compare to Harden.

 

Nope, that's just not true. He is worse then harden on defense, has been every year basically. Looking like you "try hard" doesn't mean you're actually doing anything useful or effective. I can go out there and try really hard, doesn't mean i'm a good defender.

Fun stat: harden had 7.8 VARP last year, Klay is at 6.8 total for his career

 

Jimmy Butler could very well be the best 2 guard in the league atm.

 

Harden has 100 million dollar shoe deal. What does Klay have? It's all about the benjamins. Harden wins.

 

I'm not saying that Klay is the best SG, but Harden clearly isn't.

Harden at his best is unstoppable. No other player at shooting guard is even close to that.

Klay is inconsistent and he needs Curry to be really effective. Butler is not near the offensive player Harden or even Klay is.

Butler is the best two way player, but he's never going to put a team on his shoulders. Harden is the only player of the 3 that can do that.

 

This is being humble and modest. I wonder what Harden would say if any part of his game is ever compared to Jordan

Harden hasn't really put the Rockets on his shoulder this season. The most maddening thing is he doesn't seem to give 100% even when the game is on the line, especially on defensive end.

Yeah, Harden is the best scoring shooting guard in the NBA, and probably the best SG in the league period, but the only team he's been carrying so far this season is my fantasy roster.

 

Butler and gasol are carrying the bulls.. Hardens deficiencies are clear as day looking at his shot charts and he is just as inconsistent as klay on offense

 

I agree with u dude, thompson is not a world beater but he tries on D and coupled with his athleticism he's above average...above ave on d is good enough. Maybe harden is better on O but he gives it back on D, he's just lucky rox have two good defenders on pg and sf otherwise he would be more exposed.

Last year I thought harden was the mvp but ever since curry won the mvp his play has degraded, he played like crap in the playoffs and it has continued till now whereas all his contemporaries like Curry, Thompson, WB, KD, **** even jimmy butler and Paul freaking george who is coming back from injury are all playing at a high level. Not sure who the best sg is, but I'm sure thompson is closer to that than harden this year, imho harden's play isnt even worth his contract this year.

Butler is closer to putting a team on his shoulders than Harden is to being an ace defender.

Butler is not just a two way defender. He is as good a defender as Harden is an offensive player. Harden is not even half as good a defender as Butler is an offensive player.

At this moment in time, Butler is the best player at the 2. Klay is close, but Butler does everything better except hit 3's and he doesn't have the complimentary players that Thompson does.

 

YEP! Butler guards the best perimeter offensive player an is a scoring threat on offense from midrange and 3 to a lesser extent. Klay can get hot and drop jumpers at will in which harden and jimmy cant do. Klay also doesnt get hidden on defense. He will guard lebron, KD, etc etc. Hardens game is mostly driving to left side of the rim or top of key 3. he cant shoot like Klay or play defense like either His offense is limited but the refs whistles get him going. Lately he has been shooting better but he is inconsistent

 

Harden claiming he gets tired from carrying the offense so much is largely on himself and Butler is proving he's the best 2 guard in the league. It's not even close. I'd put Klay over Harden as well, maybe even Beal.
