Brandon Brooks and Ben Jones will be FAs. Will be interesting to see if we can keep them or have to rely on picks or other signings

Hopkins is an FA next year

Probably will go to Andy Reid would be my guess.

    I think O'Brien probably finishes 3rd or 4th.

Why would a guy who took 9-7 team from last year to a 9-7 record get coach of the year votes?

Tied the franchise record in passing TDs(29) with so many different QBs this year

Did you see how Bruce Arians won it last year (with his team only improving by one game)?

How a team handles adversity or struggles within a season is just as important as the record from year to year. He's not going to win it (as it still would go to a team with a great, not good, record)... but he could get votes.

And by your standard, he should have been the runaway winner last year by overseeing a 2-14 to 9-7 turnaround.

I didn't say that was my standard. Just don't see why he'd win when we barely improved and much of the adversity was caused by his poor coaching

Your disdain for O'Brien is almost as bad as Bobby's hate on Hoyer.

Because unbiased/educated voters actually recognize it as him losing his best weapon on offense to injury (Foster), and having to scramble to put in last-second QB's (that won) due to injury requires a helluva coaching job.

Again, Arians and the Cardinals only "barely improved" from 2013 to 2014... but he actually won coach of the year (we're just talking about why a voter would vote for him).

Almost, but I never claimed new information.

Also arians was probably rewarded partially for the previous year as well. That team went from 5-11 to a legit contender

The scrambling was his own fault. He made poor roster decisions at QB an RB.

He benched Hoyer for Mallet. He signed Polk because he thought he ran for 150 yards against him years ago

Arians made that team into a contender. Two years before they were 5-11

No, they went from 10-6 to 11-5... but even using this new criteria, it supports BOB who went from 2-14 to 9-7 (if you're into somehow rewarding a coach for the previous year as well).

So, Foster getting injured was his fault. Hoyer getting knocked out and having to win with Yates/Weeden is his fault... got it.

Two years ago, the Texans were 2-14.

    Give it up...

I think Ariens probably got some votes for his prior years work.

Bobs didn't make the Texans to a legit contender, they're a barely above .500 team on a weak division

He's not winning coach of the year

Given what was left with that abomination of a team that was 2-14... they've come a long way.

Given how this defense is playing right now... they're really not that far away from being able to beat the rest of the AFC (hell, its still wide open this year). I wouldn't have called the Ravens of 3 years ago, or the Giants before that, as legit contenders either going into the playoffs.

BOB isn't going anywhere... again, you can give it up.

That wasn't the argument... you asked why would he get votes.

I doubt that they are close to beating the rest of the AFC.

BOB will stay, but won't win coach of the year. He's nothing like Bruce Arians, that's a bad example

Right and there isn't much of a compelling argument other than they faced the adversity of him starting Mallet and injuries.

You're agreeing more with me than with the people who see him as a coy candidate

I have to admit, he did an amazing job with what he had to work with. This team doesn't have 9-7 talent. He probably won a few more games with this group than he really should have.
