Nope, he is a solid starting PF, with serious growth potential. That doesn't matter, he was good for Houston - he fit. DD
He is 25 and going to be 26 like Harden. There is only so much growth a player do. If Harden can learn not to overdribble on the shotclock, then I believe it.
I don't hate him, he's just not a good basketball player and he's a liability to the Rockets when he's on the court all to often.
To be fair alethios, we do need to ditch Jones this season for assets. But we also need to do the same with DMo. Paying either guy would be a mistake! There is a month and a half to prove otherwise.... Would be nice if we could send Dwight and DMo to atlanta for Horford and parts
I know, I'm just having fun and relishing the current Star Wars atmosphere (even tho Palpatine is not in The Force Awakens). Still, it's no secret that you have no love lost for Jones and I, and most others, can understand why.
Horford would be great for this team, playing alongside Capela, since he can stretch the floor with that 3pt shot of his. I think Dwight and DMo is too much to give up for him though. I'm all for trading Jones but I'd like to see DMo get back into shape and playing at his level he played at last year.
Would be great to get DMo back at that level, or get Jones back to his early seaso form last year. But unless it happens before Feb 15 they need to go. No sense paying either guy for 1 decent season out of 4. No sense letting em walk for naught!
The back thing is very concerning, not sure I feel comfortable giving him a big contract this summer. 7 footers are injury prone.
Yeah I tried to say this earlier when people wanted to think things would be ok when he got back... Back injuries are nothing to play with... It's going to take him at least a year to get back to normal... T_Man
When it comes to any surgery with the back... There is no minor surgery... But you do pose a very good question... I think DMo is a very good player... But how much do you spend on a guy hoping that he will be ok in the future... On the other hand how much do you pay a player that is in his twilight years.. Man... Very good question... T_Man
I just hope DMo didn't overdo it with his rehab. Lithuanians sometimes might have too good of a work ethic.
I hope dmos back is better because we need him. I said I will wait to judge until the end of january but maybe that was too optimistic even.
I was mocked for saying that I was concerned about D-Mo's recovery this year FYI. We know that the Rockets are notorious for keeping injuries under lock and key, and I don't know how to take their report of him having a "sore back" but being sent back to Houston at the same time. Could be them being overly cautious, but with having back surgery at such a young age as a 7 footer with poor posture does concern me. Folks around these parts were just assuming that D-Mo gets maxed out this Summer and for reason the Rockets need to trade Jones ASAP. I'm not so sure anymore. I love D-Mo, and hope he retained regardless of his back issues, but they certainly can't move forward assuming anything about D-Mo's health. Other teams will take caution as well when it comes to considering D-Mo for a trade or in free agency.
Not more than like 10 mil a year. If Dwight can make it through the rest of the season with no issues then I'd feel more comfortable. And out 8 months seems pretty serious to me, he was running on the treadmill right before his surgery too.
