You don't think Dekker is a major blemish?

    I don't get what's hard in this

Morey is a mediocre at best first round draft picker- Busts in Royce White, Dekker, Picking Mook Morris over Kawhi etc

Morey is a good 2nd round draft picker - Parsons, harrell etc

    That's about it.

It's ok to accept that Morey is not one of the top GM's in everything. Afterall he is the best in analytics ;)

He is not a top 5 GM. Probably a top 7-8 GM at best which is not to say he is bad and also not to say he is one of the best or beyond replaceable

Their obsession with probability annoys me
They should stop working under the premise that "talent figures itself out." They've probably overlooked the psychological side of things when they trade for guys that are dumber than dirt like Terrence Williams and Thomas Robinson
"Omer Asik doesn't have an ego."
Thank god he's never successfully traded into the top 5 of the lottery. It could have been for Hasheem Thabeet or Thomas Robinson.
It tells us they don't know how to read people or cut through bull****

It tells me that the GM and the Coach and his staff have to work together...

You have a GM who is great with numbers and stats... You have a coach who knows talent... Combine that information with communication and see what 3 players fit the coach's system...

From that triage system, you get the player that you want..

All the accountants, computer geeks, number crunching people I have ever met lack social skills. They are awkward

This is why analytic geek gets embarrassed time and time again on social media.

He needs to keep his mouth shut and get fired

GM'ing is more than 1st round drafting. Pat Beverley and Luis Scola acquisitions are examples of that. Then Josh Smith signing and Corey Brewer trade another example (what a difference a year makes).

Have to consider Les Alexander's influence too. At the end of the day its still the GM spending the owners cash and working under spending restrictions. I'm certain Morey would go into luxury tax easy to get another premiere player if the owner allowed it. The owner's No-Tax restriction has definite effect on how GM decisions can look.

Actually if you notice, he has been quiet for most of this season.

He is a typical front runner, constantly twatting and acting entitled when the Rockets are doing well. When we are underperforming, he goes quiet.

His twitter campaign to make Harden the MVP ahead of a deserved Curry was truly puzzling coming from a GM.

I agree. Drafting is just part of it. He succeeds in other parts like trades, cap management etc and fails in other parts like communication and his misguided views on coaching.

Add all together and you have a good GM, not great not bad but just good and far from irreplaceable and it's only fair he is in the HOT seat

Don't really have much to add, but I wanted to go on record as saying Morey should stay. I don't think he is a genius like some do. I would like him to be accountable for f'g up the Josh Smith recruitment over the summer, as it's clear we did not put the time and energy into it that the Clippers did. He'd make a big difference, and he was cheap as hell. Still......if we were to totally blow up the team & get rid of everybody, I still would be somewhat confident we'd have another two superstars with Morey for some reason, and I don't have that comfort with another GM - though I admit that is probably faulty reasoning.

His whole "get 3 superstars to win the title" shtick always annoyed the hell out of me. I guess KG, Allen, Pierce winning it all after he left the Celtics haunted him or something.

He could be. But I take little stock in judging an injured player in their first few games. Clint looked like **** in the first half of last season.

Jury is still out on Dekker.

Those who are saying he is not a top 5 gm, who do you think the top 5 are? And why do you think that?

I think that's the ultimate goal, but when I see the construction of this and last year's team, I see a guy that rolls with the punches ultimately. He grabs what is available in a constantly changing market while trying to remain flexible enough to add that 2nd or 3rd star.

Clearly he's a better than average GM the question now is, do our superstars have what it takes to win is a championship.

If not then it's up to Morey to somehow flip our one or both our stars for a young star trough the draft or any other opportunity that comes up.

I guess this is directed at me since I say that. I did go through it in another thread. In no order here are 5 better GM's than Morey

    RC
    Riley
    Myers
    Ainge
    Presti

Jb can't be a head coach if u wouldn't give up this season
I don't think Jb is a good assist coach

I am on the fence. This season has shown that Harden and Howard are both flawed "cornerstone" players. They probably do need another star to win it all.

Morey thought so before last season. But the WCF appearance convinced him otherwise so he stayed put and just added Lawson. One can argue that Lawson was supposed to be a half-star and that would give us 2.5 stars.

IMO, H&H doesn't have it to lead us to the promised land. Maybe Harden will mature one day. Let's hope.
