I guess it depends on what your expectations were.

Is Wilfork on that list? What about Mallet?

Tanny's been a bigger disappointment than Clowney. All those weapons and that huge contract and he got the Fins nowhere

    He exceeded expectations.

I mean he made a bunch of games without an alarm clock

Clowney has well surpassed my expectations for this season considering the micro fracture. I was preparing for a pretty much net neutral player this year.

Agreed. Clowney has just as many sacks as Mack of the Raiders had his rookie season. Real evaluation starts next year in my opinion

List was probably lazily made and just looked at sacks. Clowney has had a decent (rookie) season, at worst.

    Who overreacted?

what the dude says about clowney in the little summary is right on and everyone would agree. where he loses credibility is labeling him a disappointment.

Stupid article is stupid. Everybody that has broken down the tape of the Texans games has said the exact opposite of Clowney's season. Writer has no credibility in my mind.

Sure, that was the talk about him during the draft, but that hasn't been the case in the big leagues. All signs, and all persons who have gone in-depth for analysis, think differently. Eye test confirms when he is chasing down screen passes on the opposite side of the field as well. Kid's doing well, and not showing any inconsistent aggressive attitude.

I agree that he shouldn't even be on the list. all i was saying is the writer wasn't being unfair with what he actually wrote in his summary, due to this line...
'he is only 22 and can still reach his full potential'

. the aggressiveness part.... he had brady dead to rights as he released the ball and he stopped. Merciless and watt go in there with bad intentions even if it's a close to a flag.

I've become a huge clowney fan and the overreaction to this injury was way overblown, but I didn't mind what the list maker wrote in his summary.

Erin Rodgers and his double check discount should also be on that list. If you're a football god, there is no excuse to letting the cardinals shut you down, even with the texans 2002 offensiveline.

Opinion based on one play, on which he was going for the pass deflection? I don't know man, that sounds like a stretch... (unless I am thinking about the wrong play. But still, it's one play nevertheless).

Clowney officially ruled out for the finale. Dude sure makes it hard. You can't lump in a left foot injury with residuals of right knee surgery. Meanwhile, Mack is about to break Raider's season season sack records and could finish the year with the sack title if he can stay ahead of Watt. Hindsight is 20-20. I certainly never advocated taking Mack with the #1 pick. Just sucks seeing things not work out. Clowney has had an up and down year with some good games but nothing approaching what you would expect with a #1 pick. Still, better than a lot expected of him this year. Next year is the make or break.

In 2 years when Clowney is Mack's current age, we'll see how Clowney is doing. He's already looking beastly on the field in the NFL now and when Mack was Clowney's age, he was still a college kid.

Also, Clowney already demands more attention from defenses than Mack does. Despite how many sacks he has, Mack is almost never double teamed. Teams just don't think he commands one. If Clowney faced only one blocker for most of the season, his sack numbers would probably be very different than they are now.

Clowney had a decent season. After the micro fracture injury, it sounded his career could have been over.

He is playing like a very good starter, making good plays consistently. Showing glimpses of his explosiveness. As he plays more, the game should slow down a little bit more.

He may not live up to his draft slot, but he should have a good career at minimum.

wrong play but it's not basing it on that. when the opposing team cut blocks him, Ptsd kicks in and loses aggressiveness. this is stuff that will go away by next year, the more time that passes from the microsurgery.

So you watch Raider's games as well as Texan's games? Also, Watt and Clowney get double teamed every play while Mack doesn't? Also, you are undeniably wrong about Mack not being a disruption. Mack is 6th in the league in QB hurries. Forcing the QB to get rid of the ball because you are a second away from a sack is the definition of disruption. You cannot argue your way out of a easily quantifiable stat that measures the impact a defensive player has on an offense based on your personal observation. This is especially true when it's hard to even see Clowney on the TV screen in many plays based on the camera tracking the ball. Also, I mean maybe you have the NFL season pass and DVR Raiders games and then watch it later but I doubt it. However, if you would like then please post game by game breakdowns of each team and what players were assigned to what players.

My point was that he is out for an ankle injury that has nothing to do with his surgically corrected knee. Injuries are a part of the game but he just keeps injuring unrelated injuries. Hopefully he can get to a %100 everywhere in the off-season and come back for a good 3rd year but that is going to be the year where he has to show something. It's just not acceptable that your #1 pick needs to get to his last year in his contract (4th) to perform to the standards you expect out of the best player in the draft.

Well try to watch some all-22 and you'll see how often guys like Clowney and Watt get double teamed and how infrequently (almost never) Mack gets double teamed. There's no question Mack is having a good season, but he just doesn't get as much attention from opposing offenses that Clowney does. If Clowney faced nothing but a single blocker like Mack does, his numbers would be pretty crazy. Teams don't let that happen because they know that would be suicide. They are willing to risk it with Mack. That's not opinion either, feel free to find the film and look for it. Teams simply don't gameplan against Mack. Now sure that led to one monster game, but he's not someone who will consistently beat you which is why he's STILL facing single blockers game after game.

Screw you man, Krush Groove was awesome.

Defense looked great today without Clowney
