An inevitable escalation of wingnut stupidity once the Feds didn't start arresting these idiots after the original Cliven Bundy episode.

They want a fight. Just let them be. Pull federal employee outs, shutdown all powers to those buildings, close down all schools around there until they decide to leave. The local community will turn against them sooner or later. No need to fire a single shot and waste a bullet. Let them fail in their own idiocy.

At first, I wanted to flame your post and advocate a more harsh response. Then I remembered that the US did let a group of native americans hold Alcatraz for a good long while, so maybe you're right.

Anyway, we agree that this is a bunch of drama queens and lunatics. I think this is the necessary outcome of enclosing a group of low-IQ people and feeding them only AM radio as information input for a couple of decades.

It's like a disgusting lab experiment with a predictable result.

 

I personally know the mentality behind their ilk. None of them have any explicit reasons why 'America is falling apart' other than "Obummer is destroying the nation!". 100% of their rhetoric is vague platitudes. Just like the Clivin Bundy faux militias they aren't doing this for 'freedom'. Many of them are middle aged men who their whole lives dreamed of being Mel Gibson in the 'Patriot'. They need to create a warped reality through mental gymnastics that America needs their invaluable tactical training with their tactical gear. Most middle aged men in a mid-life crisis buy a Corvette. These dudes buy high speed tactical gear and AR-15s with 10 different attachments. They play these ridiculous scenarios in their head over and over such as being some Übermensch Delta Force operator saving big titted blondes from brown people.

That is pretty much who they are and what their motives are.

 

That's my initial reaction. But then I think you can lose against a fringe group by giving them a public and bigger voice. But if they decided to try a new tactic and harm someone...

 

I'm still trying to understand the situation it sounds like the Hammonds have gotten a raw deal from the courts and are being screwed by mandatory sentencing. It also sounds like they don't want these outside militias involved and are willing to cooperate with the authorities.

From what I gather it sounds like it is the Bundy family and others looking for publicity and a fight and they've latched on to this without really knowing or even caring what the actual central figures want.

 

What the authorities really want to avoid is another Ruby Ridge and Waco. To make this worse with the whole Trump phenomena and many of those on the right stoking anger and literally taking up arm, if this were to become a blood bath it could have much bigger national implications.

 

Where's the National Guard? CNN? FoxNews?

 

SMH why has been allowed to happen armed occupying a federal building and getting away there is no way this can stand they need to go in there and take back the building.

 

They're just unemployed and have no hope of being what they think they should be: an old rich white guy.

 

I read a couple of other articles on this, and I agree with your take on the situation. The Hammonds and the locals seem like normal people, don't want anything to do with the Bundy yahoos, and are trying to find a peaceful solution. Hopefully this will get Bundy and his cohorts tried in federal court this time.

And I wouldn't be so sure this is an Obama-related thing, fchowd. For a long, long time there's been stewing resentment of the federal govt - which owns most of the land in many areas - in much of the rural West.

 

Turn off wi-fi and cut off WeTV and they'll leave in a heartbeat.
