Hmmm, I'd imagine it would tie into the Lord of Light.

Do you guys believe "The Prince that was promised" and "Asor Ahai (lord of lights champion)" are two separate entities?? Would make for an interesting distinction seeing as how a lot of people think Jon Snow is one or the other.

I hadn't seen that! I was hoping for a prequel series, that's awesome!

    Guesses on McShane's role?

    Howland Reed?
    Mad King flashback?
    Randyl Tarley?
    Maester in the Citadel?
    Euron Greyjoy?

    Thoughts?

Confirmed reports that the actor who plays Walder Frey is coming back for season 6 (Stoneheart??)

Also rumors out there that season six might feature a white walker scene bigger than Hardhomme (I find that hard to believe)

The instant my brother told me about his casting the Mad King was who I envisioned.

Evil Al from Deadwood... although he wasn't nuts, just insanely calculating and amoral. You really can't see him sitting on the Iron Throne with his long silvery hair, screaming out a "mother ****er" line in every other sentence?

I can't recall any time hes played anyone insane. The Mad King maniacally laughs as he burns people alive.

I've seen fans speculating that McShane could be playing Randyll Tarly. They've apparently just cast
    Young Ned
, and you have to figure that with Bran returning and Von Sydow being cast that flashbacks will play a prominent role in S6.

Absolutely, especially given the fact that they are casting someone who carries a legendary sword and is one of the greatest sword fighters in the realm (Arthur Dayne flashback)...

I'm curious to see whether that flashback will be Jamie and the smiling knight or the Tower of Joy.

Judging by what the show has put forward, it seems they deem Jon Snow's parentage as important as GRRM does. So from that perspective my money is squarely on Tower of Joy.

    Nope.

I'm glad the Iron Islands storyline is going to be in this next season. That guy looks too young to be Theon's uncle IMO, especially since Euron is his oldest uncle. I was hoping that Ian McShane would play Euron.
