This reminds me of Francis and Tmac.....I don't think we will ever get there with Harden as the leader.

He doesn't have it in him.

Did he deliver? I remember u could expect more from your franchise player..he doesn't have it, neither did Tracy nor Francis.
Nor Dwight. Need a new leader. A Warrior.

we are basing our emotions on the current state of the rockets.

let's remember that the last time we made the conference finals was with Charles Barkley.

All were our franchise players and were paid like them too.

I would have said the exact same thing about Hakeem Olajuwon in 1992.

Some people I swear, they talk about being long time fans and post to no end but are quick to dump a player because according to them know he won't lead the team to a ring. All you gotta do is look back 3-4 years at what writers and fans were trying to trade Curry for. The guy is 26!

I wouldn't have because he played both offense and defense....and competed every single night.

We had lots of runs in the playoffs with him.....Hakeem was an all time great - Harden is not close...and Howard never will be.

Name the players in the NBA that 'have it'?

    Rocket River
Generally these players only have IT after they win

That is not necessarily true, here are some players from the past, that I think had it, but never got there.

Barkley, Stockton, Malone, Ewing, Miller, Iverson, Wilkins.

For me it is a matter of competing hard, night in and night out, I don't see that in Harden.

After 2007 Dirk was mocked endlessly. As an MVP winner he let his 67 win team fall to an 8th seed in the playoffs, the first time that ever happened. Soft. Choker. He's accepting his MVP trophy while his team is fishing. Ha ha! ::Nelson::

Four years later, he's holding up the real trophy after knocking out Lebron James and the superfriends. Let us not be so quick to judge a superstar's potential. Harden's playing like a lazy POS right now, but last year he was a determined beast. Does his horrible season this year mean last year didn't happen? Let's just hope he gets back into form instead of trying to crucify him.

Maybe all that crucifying that Dirk took helped get him to the promised land.

Dirk never lacked effort and always gave 100% for his team, don't compare them. I'd be incredibly glad if "he's kinda soft" and "can he really lead a team to a ring?" were the only negative criticisms we could find for Harden.

The responses here are crazy. Whatever your feelings at this point in time about Harden does not matter. He's proven he can be a top 5 player in the league. You keep that guy here and happy at all cost, and bring in people to help foster his mindset, hunger, and development. The things I'm reading on here about him are the same things people said for years about Dirk Nowitzki.....Until he won a championship.

Francis and Tmac never got us out of the 1st round. Also the comparison to Tmac is not even fair because Tmac was well in his prime when he got to Houston and ended it at the age of 30 or close to it. Harden is 26, he's got plenty of more years to prove himself (which he's already done by making it farther than both those players)
