Astros are definitely on the way up and more importantly they have a plan they are following and executing, though giving up those prospects to chase the playoffs last season did hurt us. The Texans are more of a mystery. The fact is, you won't win a Super Bowl without a good to great QB. The Texans lack this and we have bad, bad luck with injuries for our crap QB's as well as our star RB (Foster) and prized defensive pick (Clowney). In the last 2 seasons alone, the Texans have gone through I believe 9 QB's. It is by the good graces of our ****ty division that our talent on D (mainly JJ Watt, but recently also Merciless and some days Cushing) and at the WR position is able to compensate for the lack of talent under center to make a push for the playoffs.

Most sane/educated people are a fan of both... that being said, if you had to choose one, the city of Houston as a whole is in a much better state when the Texans are competitive. Dis-interest in the Rockets actually helps when they're going through something as embarrassing as they are now... they honestly deserve far more ridicule and criticism than they're actually receiving.
Rockets are the most successful franchise in the history of Houston Sports and that will not change in your lifetime or mine.
