Not if he was -20 I wouldn't have. Howard did not play well on defense tonight. He had a Terrence Jones game, flashy stats, not a great impact. Unlike Jones, Howard isn't a bad defensive player, he's still very good, he just had a bad game.
Horford doesn't shoot those type of shots ever. Watch Atl's next game, dude will only take a desperation 3 only.
DMo was decent tonight, I really think offensively we were good enough though. Milsap was taking it to him.
Howard is not an efficient post scorer, hell last year he wasn't even a good post scorer but he got them anyway....so yeah, he should have to beg for post touches this year because he's not good at it. Salary is irrelevant when it comes to what players are good at. Dwight Howard should have to beg for 3 point attempts too. Point is, DMo was one of the most efficient post scorers in the NBA last year and we're not using that nearly as much as we should when the scoring goes stagnant. There's no need to use it when the offense is running as well as it was in the first quarter.....but in the second quarter when the team is shooting 30 something percent? You absolutely should go to it.
I give up. Some think Dmo is the second coming of Hakeem and the answer to this team's current issues. Just far too many issues with this team on and off the court to be putting this type of responsibility on a role player.
That 20 million dollar player isn't being paid 20 million for his offense. It's for his defense. We're the most disappointing team in the NBA right now. If I were JB, I'd be worrying about job security beyond this season. That means winning winnable games, and Harden's hero ball doesn't seem to be the answer.
Dmo on the season: 50% FG 44% 3pt In limited minutes, we need to go to him more often, tonight, Harden when given a choice would go to Ariza or Bev when DMo was just as open....neither of them is as good an option as DMo. One of the best in the league, but not that we will ever see it with JB coaching. DD
We could very easily be on a 7 game winning streak right now. We lost by 2 to NO, 3 to Orlando, and lost a very close one to Atlanta tonight. D-mo can't make a bad team good, I agree he's not close to that level. But I do think he could make us good enough to win some of these very close games. If D-mo had played throughout this stretch then I would feel differently, but for whatever reason he was benched for 3 games, 2 of which we lost.
I think he makes the team a TON better - just as a role player like Shane Battier did. He should be starting and finishing games, and he should be the focus on the offense when Harden is out. Do I believe he is an all star, no, but his skill set and basketball IQ are the best on the team and the TEAM is better when he plays. We need more role players that know their role. Imagine if Corey Brewer played to his strengths......DMo is one of the few Role players who plays within himself and plays the RIGHT way, as a team player. Too many others are idiots on the floor. DD
One dude is actually mistaking Dmo for Howard. hahahahaha Posted Dmo rebounding numbers are down because of his rim protection. I love this forum.
Shane Battier wasn't all bad with his hookshots. They were ugly but they went in at a 48%. And he was ambidextrous at that.
Watch the game. When DMo provides help defense and contests shots, he takes himself out of rebounding position, and he's not athletic enough to quickly recover. Do you think that's untrue?
Dmo is like a taller version of Scola. Good post moves, poor rebounder, maybe a bit better defender. He is vastly overrated on this board.
You mean the Scola that averaged 20-9 one year? That Scola? DMo is a lot like Scola - but not quite as polished yet. DD
