^ Looks like it was just a rumor, Han Solo and Boba Fett are pretty much confirmed

Because he's not the new Darth Vader and she's got "it".

Luke defeated Vader in what was essentially his 2nd lightsaber duel ever (and mostly held his own in the first one)... and his win really only happened because he got all emotionally fueled by the family issues.

So I've been watching the 4/5/6 Blu Rays. How do I know what's real and what Lucas added in later on?

Oh snap! Didn't know about the Han and Boba were to get their own movies. Wonder who'll play Han in this new one. I hope they get a relatively unknown breh instead of the usual Chris Pratt, Evans, or someone we've already seen a lot of in the movies.

I'm thinking of getting one of the Zahn novels. Will reading them ruin my movie experience in the future?

If only a million nerds had analyzed this in frame by frame breakdowns on their webzones.

I wish they would do a spinoff of when the Jedi and Sith were in their primes.
    Similar to the Old Republic.

If it looks stupid and unnatural, it's probably a Lucas add on *cough*1,2, and 3*cough*.

No doubt, the dialogue and direction of Lucas are the main culprits. But the actor they chose to play Anakin was just not ready for prime time.

I will say that I could see kids enjoying the prequels more than any of the others. They aren't that far off from a power rangers movie.

You're asking me to determine what looks stupid and unnatural in Star Wars? I guess I'm screwed then. Are the original movies as they were actually shown at the time available for purchase?

I am a fairly big Star Wars fan, and I was pretty disappointed with the film. Specifically, its story. I felt that it didn't do much to advance the overall saga/story, but rather it was more of remake of ANH rather than a start of a new chapter.

    Specific thoughts:

    Things I hated:
-Starkiller base: are you kidding? I hated it, every single aspect of it. ROTJ for me is the lesser film of the OT, and Death Star 2.0 is a big part of it. Seemed like they got lazy. But this.. c'mon, did we really need yet another massive superweapon? One that, of course, has a critical weakness and gets destroyed by a handful of Xwings, who would have guessed? Oh and the visual effects Abrams used to show the new Republic capital (Hosnian system) blowing up too me right out of the film (and it takes a TON to do that since Star Wars is pure fantasy anyway). Them seeing it from Maz's planet was laughable. Ugh.
    - overarching story obviously was a total ripoff of ANH, this film takes the saga backwards instead of forward it seems
    - it was annoying how it was apparently decided to have nothing from the prequels show up, even if it was kind of necessary. Even ANH had a 5 min roundtable scene discussing the current political situation. There was none of that in this film. We are just supposed to accept that the First Order has these massive resources out of nowhere, the New Republic is destroyed and the Resistance is just a handful of Xwing fighters, since it's the same thing we know and love, so we got some more. Oh and let's blow up the New Republic (which is on some random planet since we can't have Coruscant since it was in the prequels) so that no politics can ever pop up in future films. So basically we're in the same spot as we were at the end of ANH, the story has not advanced at all. I mean I was't a huge fan of politics but there needs to be some to understand the state of the Galaxy and to care about these worlds that are being destroyed. I've never heard of the Hosnian system so I didn't give a **** when they blew it up.

    Things I liked:
-Characters. Poe, Finn and Rey were casted well and look like a solid core to build the future films around. Rey felt like a Mary Sue type character, but there may be more to her revealed in other films so I won't add that to the list of things I disliked.
-Han: he was awesome. And his death scene was handled well, IMO.
    -Special effects were awesome.

The Timothy Zahn books, as well as almost the entirety of the "Expanded Universe" that has been published in comics, books, games, TV, etc. has basically been purged from the Star Wars canon. This includes decades of Dark Horse comics and some really great books such as the Zahn novels.

The Trawn Trilogy is great and is widely considered the best of the expanded universe. I highly recommend you read the Thrawn trilogy by Zahn. You just have to keep in mind that it's not canon and probably never will be adapted as such. Think of it as an alternate universe, kind of how Marvel or DC reboot universes every decade or so.

On that note, I think they've adapted several plot points from the jedi academy trilogy, which was also one of the better EU trilogies (namely, Luke attempting to replenish the jedis, and a young former pupil going off on his own and creating drama in the galaxy.)

My understanding is that the New Republic and the Resistance are not the same. The New Republic is naive enough to think that they don't need an army anymore since the Empire is kaput. But Leia formed the Resistance on the down-low because she knows better.

I think the New Republic had an army, but just weren't willing to use it. The difficulties of a bureaucracy...

Wait, wasn't that the same kind of think going on in Episodes I & II?

I saw it as the resistance is a military faction of the New Republic... nothing more, nothing less. Pretty much explained as much in the opening crawl.

And now that the Republic army has been wiped out, they're really all that is left.

I started reading Aftermath which supposedly picks up the story between ROTJ and The Force Awakens. I'm at the point of the book where they're beginning to discuss this...that they want to no longer have a standing army because they're afraid it will be corrupted again and used to create empire. Mon Mothma seems to be the biggest proponent of that line of thought so far.

They will be taking parts and ideas from the EU and into this new Disney universe it seems.

They almost put a Yuuzhan Vong scout in the Star Wars Rebel show so you can still read that stuff and enjoy it. It's nice to know that they are conscious of it at least.

The reviews are terrible for that book. Apparently the author rushed the book and the grammar is terrible. Plus, the plot is poor. Or so I have read.

Just saw it, wasn't perfect but I enjoyed it. Much better than the prequels.

For the next movie(s), I'm hoping for these story lines.

    1. Chewbacca goes ape****, brings his buddies and tracks down the Knights of Ren (already injured Kylo) to avenge his BFF!!!

    2. First Order Stormtrooper army rebuild. These guys seem a bit more vicious than the previous clone generation. Watching them identify and snatch children (ala jedi) for training would be very dark. Maybe a branch breaks off (Fin leads) to stop this practice.

    3. Supreme Leader Snoke (Darth Plagueis?) backstory to see him revive himself during the Clone Wars and re-start the Knights of Ren and First Order.

    4. Kill General Organa offscreen, just mention it LOL!!! I don't want to see Fisher again, she was terrible.
