You have never been to a fair, festival, resort, etc where henna tattoos were sold? We just went to the Renaissance Festival where both daughters had henna tattoos. We are more in agreements about it not being a newsworthy issue, and from all reports the school did attempt to apologize and address the parent's concerns. I also agree it should not have been a religious concern. But the mother's actions and comments uncovered her real intentions...
She doesn't even have to give a reason. You are just defensive because you think someone is attacking your religious ideology. Not the first time, either.
How is a mild acid and mild base reaction bad for your skin? You do know the products of the reaction, right? Water, CO2 and salt. I'm a MechE major, so... but basic Chem 111 was sufficient for me in understanding acid base reactions. Apparently it wasn't enough for you.
Mild compared to nitric or sulfuric but not mild for your skin. Put acid on your face bruh. Post results.
Do you know what an acid base reaction does you dingus? It's called freaking nutritization. Baking Soda is basic.
When you use it as soap it is an abrasive and further helps break down and damage the skins barrier. You know how many r****ds have destroyed their face with that crap? Baking soda is used for a freaking blast media. If it was acid plus base = neutral then water would get it off. Actually it is acid plus abrasive scrubs your skin off. Use your brain. If it were neutral what would be the point. Reactions are not instant. Especially when one is a solid. I have done solid state reactions that take 24 hours. Lemon juice screws your skin in minutes.
Wtf are you saying. It's a simple acid base reaction. It's either the realease of carbon dioxide that that forms in bubbles that cleans the henna or the mixture of salt and water paste that forms that cleans it. I don't know. All I know its a tried and tested method. The active ingredients of the two reactants are sodium bicarbonate and citric acid. That is a textbook acid base reaction buddy. You are speaking out of your ass. Embarrassing especially when you made this statement in regards to me: "I know you failed ChemE" and you don't even understand an acid base reaction.
YOU don't understand. The reaction you are talking about IS NOT INSTANT. Read my post again. I can't explain it any better. Yeah an acid and an abrasive works real well. Walnut shells and micro beads are also real popular skin abrasives. They destroy your capillary. I'm talking out of my ass and you think all reactions with a solid state reactant are instant. I was just trying to FYI, **** your skin up breh. My chem and skincare are on point.
The reaction is over when the formation of CO2 is finished which is when the reaction stops bubbling. It's visably easy to see when all moles of the reactants have been used and the reaction is complete .
Do it then dip****. You won't be the first. **** is constantly on huffpost, facebook and r****d central. Ask a derm before you do it on kids. Too alakaline and you break down your skin barrier, too acidic and you burn. Abrasive helps everything along. Lemons and baking soda are good for cooking and cleaning you bathroom. Not your skin.
Ya I will. And I'll be perfectly fine. Worst case scenario my hands will be dry and I might have to put some lotion on. The minimual amount of excess reactants of citric acid or sodium bicarbonate depending on which is the limiting reagent will barely do anything to the skin that lotion wouldn't solve.
I'm so sorry I typed with my smartphone and what ever mistype I performed was percieved as 'access'. I did edit it as soon as I posted it however. Thanks for pointing out a spelling mistake that I corrected before you even posted the mistake. Resorting to being a spelling Nazi. Again, whatever the excess reactant is, sodium bicarbonate or citric acid depending on which is the limiting reagent, will be a minimual amount that will barely have any negative affects on the hands that moisturizer couldn't solve.
I am not following you on this part. Are you suggesting parents let their 7 year old kids run unsupervised around fairs, festivals or resorts?
No, I was responding to the comment that you wouldn't know that "using henna" at a school event would mean the application of henna ink on a kid's skin. Not allowing kids run around unattended at fairs, festivals, etc. Odd you would get that out of what I posted... unless you were purposely trying to cloud the discussion.
Lime juice is even more acidic. Should I discontinue touching limes? Oh my god I just saw this http://www.sheltondentistry.com/patient-information/ph-values-common-drinks/ My teeth are dissolving with each sip of juice I have! How can they serve juice to kids? It kills their teeth! Their skin is destroyed if they get juice on them as well. This is very worrisome! I am fearful AND outraged now!! Am I doing this right?
There should be a poll on this thread: A) I find this despicable and I have kids B) I find this despicable and I do not have kids C) I have no problem with this and I have kids D) I have no problem with this and I have no kids
