When was the time for optimism? I must have missed it because I recall this board being packed with doomsayers since game 1 of the season. The posters on this board are not a positive bunch. As for hoping to miss the playoffs, that is a very foolish wish. We have a superstar SG in his prime, and we need to hope he gets as many opportunities in the playoffs as possible. We saw with TMac and Yao how fleeting the window of contention can be.
The San Antonio win means nothing. All it means is the Rockets got up for one game. Then, they went back to being the real Rockets who can't find similar inspiration when playing other teams. Any team is good enough to beat any other team on any given day or night. The fact that the Rockets lose to all these lesser teams says everything we need to know. We are one of these lesser teams. All the crap teams of the league get up the same way to play us.
We're just unlucky in that we have a coach and a bunch of players that don't know how to execute a simple in-bounds play.
I was happy as anyone to see the Rockets eke out a tough win against the Spurs on Christmas Day but I would never say we dominated them. This team has not dominated any opponent this season - we have way too many lapses on both offense and defense.
lost a lot more than a few unlucky games. did u forget we got swept by the nets and nuggets? almost lost the sixers. this team has serious problems no longer the best center if he keeps playing like this. harden has regressed, as has the whole team. with the exception of beverley, capella and dmo. basically everyone in the playoff rotation has gotten worst. and the coach keeps playing brewer ahead of thornton, and it looks like dmo wont even get a chacne to get into game shape and rhythm. this team is a mess
"Brainless"? I think the word you're looking for is "effortless". The Rockets didn't suddenly become brainless during the summer.
We've gotten to the point where sarcastic threads get five stars? Anyways, regardless of how this season has gone, I still really do think Morey is a great GM. Few people could have built what he built without tanking after inheriting a broken McGrady and Yao who were taking up 2/3 of the salary cap.
The Clippers come back really masked a lot of our deficiencies. Just go back and watch the first four games of that series, we played the same brainless way (but had effort).
I'm going to say the time for optimism was during the off-season when expectations were sky high. Nice try on the smart ass remark though. Let me help you out right here bud, get that contention thought out of your head right now. This team has as much chance as being a contender as the LA Clippers.
Lol the whole offseason we were all positive and optimistic about how this team will take the next step and win a championship or at least look like a team that has a chance to win the championship. However it's been obvious since game 1 how wrong we were. It's been obvious since game 1 that it's impossible to get some consistent effort and chemistry out of this team. That's what attracts negativity. It's obvious this team is incredibly talented, one of the most talented teams in the league. They just aren't focused as a group and that's extremely dissappointing.
We've proven we can dominate them? Golden State is, what, 9-1 against us over last year and the first game of this year. We won one close game against the Spurs on Christmas Day and now we can "dominate" them? We best the Cavs last season, but we sure don't look as good as we did last season. Where does this idea of dominating them come from?
OP is right. Everyone on our roster and our GM are so elite that the team is embarrassed to show its OMG TRUE POTENTIAL instead it is losing to save face in behalf of other teams
those unlucky games will even out in the playoffs. Rox will beat Spurs in 5, and the Warriors in 6, then the Cavs in 7.
