Yea I think they will wait out the 20 days or whatever, and at that point it will depend on how the 1B situation is unfolding
Agree. Looking at the numbers, his 2012 season at AA was pretty good and showed he could hang in the upper levels and he started to show in game power. His 2013 season was a wash due to his drug issue and he was promoted to AAA and didn't do so well, but probably due to not being in game shape all year. 2014 he split between AAA and the majors and was hitting .267 with 14 home runs in the first two months of the season. I think he should have stayed down all year to really work on the finer points of the game and develop his approach a little more. The strikeouts went way down so he showed some development in that aspect, but the average was down in May. Would have liked to see him succeed over a full year before bringing him up. 2015 he was doing great before he was called up hitting .279 with 17 home runs and 66 RBI. Strikeouts were way down as well. Then he gets called up for July, does poorly, is sent back down and continues to perform poorly. I think he just needs to focus on taking things one day at a time and not press too much. The talent is clearly there, he just needs to relax and believe in himself. It's all psychological with him and he just needs to take the same approach that has made him successful in the minors and apply it to the bigs (easier said than done).
Rumored trade Has anybody else heard about this Vavel.com is reporting a huge for team trade including the Braves Cubs Indians and Astros where Freddie Freeman goes to the Astros Cubs get Carrasco the Indians get soler and the Braves get reed and other prospect my buddy at work sent a screen shot of the trade but I'm not sure how to share it on the message board
Rumored trade I don't trust it cuz I can't find any other word of the trade anywhere and believe a trade of that magnitude would be all over the social media
Okay now it sounds like vavel is just giving their opinion on a trade that they would like to see happen my coworker failed to send me the article just sent me the proposed trade boy I'm gonna yell at him Monday he got me excited about nothing
As for this "potential" deal With the contract he has signed, I'd be all in for going after Freeman But I wouldn't include Gomez in a deal. If I'm trading more prospects for help now, I'm keeping everyone who could be a potential big piece to winning it all this year.....or I'm keeping the prospects
I'm torn in that I would love to have Freeman but not at the price of reed I just have a feeling that he'll be a cornerstone for us along with altuve and correa but the sound of first base is singletons job to lose makes me cringe where as hearing the sound of and starting at first base for your Houston Astros Freddie freeman has a nice sound to it too
It's really this though Freeman + replacement OF (Jake) Vs Gomez + winner of 1B battle (Jon, Reed, White) Looking at it that way, giving up 2 top 5 prospects certainly isn't worth it to me
Yeah its not worth it as long as reed white or singleton pan out, after thinking it more I've decided I would not do the trade
Four-Team Blockbuster Trade That Would Shake The Landscape Of Major League Baseball Houston Astros receive: Freddie Freeman (1B) Cleveland Indians receive: Carlos Gomez (OF), Jorge Soler (OF) Chicago Cubs receive: Carlos Carrasco (SP), Ender Inciarte (OF) Atlanta Braves receive: A.J. Reed (1B), Kyle Tucker (OF), Clint Frazier (OF), Rob Kaminsky (SP), Billy McKinney (OF), Corey Black (SP) What this monster trade does is take rumors that have been floated around all offseason by these teams and combine them into one blockbuster deal that makes everyone a winner. <hr/> Seems unlikely.
Less than unlikely. Indians aren't going to trade Carrasco, Frazier, and Kaminsky to get Soler & Gomez. Carrasco would probably net that on his own.
