One point about Snell. Snell gets better looks from 3 because he has a handle that has to be respected by the defense. It's the same thing as when Parsons was here. Parsons got better looks than Ariza does because the D had to respect his ability to drive, weave in and out of traffic, and finish.

Frankly, I hate watching Ariza handle the ball and attempt to pass it and I miss greatly Parsons spicing up our offense with his drives, finishes, and dishes. I see that potential in Snell plus defensive potential in him as well.

I know is hard to think about moving Ariza out because he's dawged fir us out there on the defensive end. But my basketball brain says sell high.

And right now we need rim protection and defensive rebounding so bad that I'm very tempted to move Ariza for a great fix and young assets.

Whilst we are on the topic of finding a team to dump Brewer to, an excellent replacement for him would be Will Barton. Now it's highly unlikely that Denver would part ways with him, but he's an expiring (SG) that is absolutely balling this season.

He is a very similar type of player to Brewer, except he can handle the ball and can play under control. He's also been on fire from downtown and is an above average rebounder for his size.

He's averaging 16/6 on 46/41/85 this year. He would be an awesome pickup and someone I would happily trade KJ or someone similar for.

Merry Christmas to everyone in this trade thread, who shares my passion for fake trades!God bless you all to find a way to get Lebron and Durant and Curry to the Rockets for two second rounders and the rights to Llull. :)
Agreed completely on what you said at the start, but there's NO way that Detroit dumps Tolliver and Jennings for Markieff.
Also the Blazers may need to hit the salary floor but that doesn't mean they will absorb so much salary with only an mid second compensation. They could absorb David Lee instead who is a good lockeroom guy and will also find some playing time and help their other young bigs.
In this christmas day it pains my heart (not much) to have to call you out my dear bballholic.
Because Snell spent two years under defence savant Thibs and is 24 y.o and still can learn to be a good defender but Jones who was under the genius Mchale and is younger can't?
Some players get it some dont'. And it seems there is something wrong in what does't show in the wingspans and other measurements..upstairs in Snells brain.

Snell can be hardly called an asset. If the Rockets really want him so much I am sure they can get him for cheap, since the Bulls are in a trading mood and will have to pay him soon.

And if someone thinks I have some kind of weird agenda against Snell all you have ot do is ask one Bulls FIB. I mean Bulls fan.
There must be someone here who can give his opinion on the potential of one Snell.
Unfortunately Will Barton doesn't expire. He's under contract for two more years under this one and in a great contract.

He MAY be available but you have to pay for him. I dont' think we have anything that would interest them much.

Yep, my bad. Was just about to come on here and make and edit to my post (as I was looking at his rookie deal from when he first entered the league, not the year). Thanks Malakas. I don't think we have anything that interests them either, but he would be an awesome pickup. He's Brewer 3.0 with a jumper.

Methinx your basketball brain is nogged if it is in a sell Ariza high, or at all place. Unless you are trying to retain this year's 1st, that is.

I hate watching him on the O end, too, but his accountability and team D and willingness, effectively, to move onto any hot baller makes him a very worthy member of this roster.

I am reluctant to make any trade that doesn't move the needle. Hard. Because this squad is so disappointing I just don't perceive a move into contender status. Dadgummit and Merry 'mas.

Snell would be a throw-in, not the center piece, to any trade I would make with Ariza. As such I'm not banking on him to become a superstar. As far as the age thing with Terrence goes, it's NBA years that makes the difference. Snell has I believe at least one season left on his rookie deal. Terrence has none. His time is up. We can buy a year with Snell and get off Ariza's contact at the same time. While Ariza's contact looks like a huge bargain right now, he has not played well this season. So, looking forward and not just backward, Ariza's downside may be coinciding with Snells peak right now.

I'm not sold that Snell is going to be good, much less great. I am convinced he's a better offensive fit for us than Trevor and I'm not so sure he'll be that much of a downgrade defensively, at least for the remainder of this season.

And I already stated I would be ok with moving Ariza IF we got back another defensive specialist (such as Gee) that can bring that perimeter defensive skill to us that we would lose by trading Ariza. I AM NOT comfortable trading Ariza without a backup plan to acquire a proven defensive replacement for him on the perimeter, that one guy that we can assign to check the opponents best perimeter offensive player.

Read my whole post to understand the balance in all trades I suggest.

I would think Barton commands two first round draft picks. He's gotta be approaching untouchable status.

He's a monster athlete. Decent defender. Good scorer and good percentages. With the NBA turning into a 3 point league, I would think an athlete like him that can also shoot .408 would be highly valued.

I'm not sure what you meant though.

Has Ariza's defense even been that great this year? I have seen him get beat more times this year than all of last year. I would venture to say he might be losing some of his athleticism. If the right pieces came back Inwould trade Ariza.

In the draft, I wanted him over Lamb.

It's better to sacrifice a Lamb for Harden than a Barton.

Cut? On Christmas Day? Wowsers. I tho't this kid was a lock to be a fair-to-good rotation player in the NBA.

Yes his defence has been good. It's hard to judge perimeter defenders though from analytical stats. Because theirs depend on the others around them, and the others around them bring their own down. When there is no communication in switching for example. It's much easier to judge pfs and c defence.

From what I have seen Ariza's defence is still good. Not elite but good.
Even Kawhi Leonard or Butler wouldn't be able to hide the rest of the perimeter players of this team.

Tell me 10 better wing defenders who are so versatile and not include stars.

As for the right pieces coming back for sure. If we get someone like Cameron Payne for example or a good lottery pick I would trade him, but don't expect us to contend. We will be a lottery team.
And if we do that, I see no reason to also not trade Dwight, because why pay Dwight 25+ million to be a lottery team.

One or two of them are already playing as if informed they soon won't be on the team anyway. But whatever every player can give us to beat the damned Spurs today is okay with me.
