It wasn't? The propaganda against the Jews were started by the Catholics decades before the Nazi's took over. The Vatican has been accused of either helping them out or not doing anything to prevent the genocide.

If you believe all that stuff about the Pilgrims, America was born from Christians fleeing murderous Christians. Below comes from Library of Congress.

No, the Nazi party was not a Christian political party. In fact you will be hard pressed to find any practicing Christians in the hierarchy of the party.

Adolf Hitler had disdain for Christianity as religion, and by 1937 supported policies that were drafted specifically to persecute the Catholic Church. Further, a vast majority of high ranking Nazi officials when asked about Hitler's private opinion on Christianity, claimed he hated it because it suppressed the powerful and allowed the weak to rule.

Heinrich Himmler hated Christianity and repeatedly stated so, and he was probably the second most influential Nazi.

    Joseph Goebbels often attacked Christianity.

    Martin Bormann hated Christianity.

Hermann Goering viewed Christianity as a useful tool to control the poor.

The support of or the spread of Christianity was not a motivation of the Nazi party, in fact they did everything to weaken and suppress Christianity. It makes perfect sense, as Christianity is the opposite of the Germanic tales of Supermen and control by the strong.

Not that it matters....... you can find examples of one sect/member of a religion preventing another sect/member of that wider faith from harming a rival religion..... but I don't know that it really speaks well or ill of that particular religion.

There is no doubt that Christians have killed other Christians in the name of Christianity a number of times.... I don't think that is being debated.

I was just trying to tell you something nice about Muslims: they didn't do any of those historical events.

Because Islam being the fastest growing religion is one of the largest myths being perpetuated today. And it's significant portion of it's growth rate has EVERYTHING to do with birth rates, not converts.

Another revisionist story. All the Nazi uniforms had the cross to indicate that they are Christians

If you are going to use this argument, which political party were the Muslims (ones trying to kill the Christians) affiliated with?

You guys are missing the point. It doesn't matter if the Nazis were Christians. They had an ideology which incited genocide, ideological rituals, ideological holy books, mythical heroes and enemies, distorted belief in theories about nature and creation, etc. There was also a lot of good things about them I'm sure. Among other things, I've heard it mentioned that their social programs were tremendously successful, lots of economic/financial corruption was weeded out and the German economy benefitted from these things before the nazis went totally ape****.

You can avoid calling it a religion, but it is functionally identical to a religion as with a lot of ideologies e.g. Americanism. You can try to call it Christianity, but it's not exactly Christianity although the name of Christianity was hijacked to attract weak minded Christians into the ideology.

Stop being fooled by these minor technicalities. When a group of people follow an ideology blindly, the weak minded among them will become terrorists when they believe their security is compromised and grievances ignored. That's the recipe of terrorism in human history. It's not about religion alone, it's about group ideology of any kind. That's why socialist dictators are capable of mass killing. That's why the US military is capable of it. That's why radical islamists do it. That's how mass murderers do it. That's why the people holding the weapons are almost always poor or from politically neutered countries.

This whole discussion about technicalities like "is it a religion" - that's for a century ago. We know more now. We see more now. It's time to develop our way of analyzing these risks so that we can more fully mitigate them. Mass murderers keep updating their methodology, we should be ahead of them in updating ours.

So back to good things about Islam...

If you love cats and hate dogs as pets then Islam is for you.

The Nazis were not motivated by Christianity in any way whatsoever. Some of them happened to be born into that religion, but in no way was any interpretation of the religion the driving force behind what they did. Their driving force was a weird racial supremacy ideology that seems incomprehensible to any rational individual from today's perspective.

Yep, you gotta know, Hitler was not interested in listening to the pope. Just like the Chinese Communists, who invented a Chinese head of the Catholic church. Even the U.S. fears the pope's influence. That's why we've had only one Catholic president out of 44.

But Christians do kill each other and infidels with great enthusiasm.

Don't be so naive. You think politicians never falsely invoke religion? Thank you, and God bless America.
