I agree. I guess that makes us all T _ones only fans. Seriously though Jones rental > what you are getting for him in a trade in the long run (not much).......IF you are still trying to win this year, and by all accounts they still are. Jones likely stays unless in the next 6 weeks Harrell can beat him out. Doesn't look likely though. Not sure why this is so hard to comprehend, and why this makes me a JOF to the idiot posters.
He was great last night, but his lack of focus on defense is the reason he probably has to go, the guy is just clueless on help rotations. Even last night he got back cut for a dunk on an inbounds play. DD
Honestly with Jones I think the entire problem in every part of his game is hesitation. He doesn't have that decisiveness. He looks like he's so busy talking to himself in his head a lot of the time. Whether it's an open shot, a short jumper, a lay in or help defense he just seems to into his own head. He shies away from other players especially if they're more popular players. essentially he needs to stop being a mitch and start displaying some viciousness on the court during play rather than only when he gets a 3 point play. The guy is hitting 40% of his 3's and he still hesitates to take an open one. He used to dunk everything, he barely dunks anymore. Just more decisiveness and aggressiveness and confidence against other players will not transform him into a new player, but it will make a significant difference to his play on both ends. IMO it's also high time he stops working on his overall game during the summer and starts focusing on specific aspects of his game like developing a real hook shot or speeding up the release on his J.
I think that D-Mo is a better player, and I'd much rather invest into him long term going into this Summer. That being said, we should not try to ridicule people for having a pretty damn objective opinion on the matter. -Jones averages more PPG over his career than Donatas does -Jones has a higher PER (side a note, look at Capela's ranking among PF's) -Jones averages more than 2 RPG more than Donatas -Over his career has a higher 3 point % -Jones has more career starts -Has a higher shooting percentage in the paint -etc. There are alot of reasons why Jones could be viewed as the better player among the two. I think MOST people that watch the Rockets on a daily basis probably view Donatas as the my dynamic player with a brighter future, but you are being a complete as$ hole if you openly try to ridicule someone for having a completely objective opinion on THIS topic. Either that or you are simply not objective about Donatas. Donatas is the player I prefer IF WE HAVE TO CHOOSE between the two, but the fact is we really don't have to right now. Both players have their strengths and weaknesses, and areas of growth. So stop being an A$% (I know that will never happen but whatev)
Please don't use PER, a made up statistical analysis by an ESPN reporter - garbage in, garbage out. DD
Probably has more to do with being matched up against Aldridge, dirk, and griffin... Than the size of his brain.
Using career stats for young players is pretty dumb. We don't care about what they were 3 years ago. We care about the now.
They both are contributing about the same. Per is needed to show the details of their production. Without it, people like BBHOLIC can throw anything out there to make DMO look like a superstar over Jones when it is just not the case.
And you totally didn't read the entire post. Go figure. I was only making a point that someone shouldn't be ridiculed for having an objective opinion that was FAVORABLE or GRATUITOUS towards Jones. There are ways to look at Jones statistically as a player on par from a production standpoint, or even better based on his career numbers. You shouldn't be treated like an idiot for taking that into account around here, but for some reason the bully treatment comes into play from the anti-Jones mob on this subject. But you missed the part where I said TWICE that Donatas is who I think the better player moving forward for the team IF we have to choose (which we don't right now).
Furthermore, there's no real need to trade jones for the sake of it. I think so many people are too worried about losing jones for nothing. It very well maybe worthwhile to keep both DMo and jones until the end of the year.
Exactly and my seasoned eyes see neither of the two really breaking away from the other as far as production. They have been pretty much neck and neck their whole careers.
But it should also stand as the final say on TJ last night, that Terrence Jone's defense won the game. He had the game clenching mono y mono block at the end. He had 6 boards, 2 blocks, and a 97 defensive rating. So not only did Terrence Jones win the game last night with his excellent work on offense, he also won the game with his defense. He might have had a back door cut that he missed, but thankfully, basketball is not a 1 possession sport. You can make a mistake, but then the next few defensive possessions get stops, boards, or game clenching blocks. Jus' saying. Oh hey guys, I'm lazy, can someone remind me what Jone's is shooting so far behind the 3pt line this season? I'm just curious what it is at the moment if someone could help a brother out. (Apreesh)
