Exactly. That's why I doubt the Rockets are using DMo as trade bait.

    You shut up.

Yeah, the persistent, exaggerated bashing of TJones is annoying, but he sorta deserves it until he isn't bent over defensively in one playoffs series.

If you want posters to shut up on an internet forum, turn the computer off. You don't have the right to go trying to be tough and boss other posters around. It's time for some perspective, man. No need to take it personal.

I still question DMO's back, I would be incline to keep both and let it play out in the summer. I would focus on moving Brewer and Lawson before TJones or DMO, just not sure what kind of trade value Brewer and Lawson brings you. People keep talking about TJones defense and his defense in the playoffs when we don't know if DMO will be any better defensively in the playoff. Just let it play out. Both are young and still have a ton of upside. I prefer Tjones's injury history over Dmo's right now.

Yes, it's obvious. I know we won't keep both next season. But, people seem to think we are going to trade Jones, and we are going to improve the team. It could be that there are no trades that will improve the team. Jones may not be the starting caliber PF everyone wants, but he may be better than what we could get in trade. Everyone seems to think we can easily flip Jones and upgrade the team. It may not be that simple.

True and DMO doesn't have a month worth yet under his belt so hard to even make a determination yet. I think this was the 3rd or 4th game back for DMO? I think by mid to late January-Februrary DMO should be back in full game shape. I'm surprised he's playing as good as he is right now to be honest considering he hasn't played in 8 months

Some of us are Rocket fans and not Dmo only fans. If one player outclasses another player for an extended period of time that player becomes more valuable to the team then the other. In this particular case, one of Dmo or Jones will likely have to go, and who ever plays better should stay.

Or both can be traded or let go for all I care, whatevers best for the team. All I know is we aren't re-signing both to huge contacts. Not saying I view Dmo over Jones, but like I said, if Jones keeps up his play of late, it will raise the question of whether whom should be traded.

I think TJ and DMo challenge/push each other in a good way. Anybody who is really a fan of this team should appreciate that.

I agree. Morey will test the market for Jones, but it's going to take the right team to either be willing to gamble on a possible half season rental or possibly overpaying for (at best case in my opinion) a great rotation player.

Keeping TJones and DMo for the rest of this season maybe the best possible move, but we know Morey will be working every angle and dangling all sorts of trade packages out there.

Not really. If you have to trade either Jones or DMo, you trade Jones 100% of the time. That's not an insult to Jones; rather, it's a testament to DMo's value.

DMo is a 7 ft tall, skilled post player who can be the cornerstone of an offense. In today's NBA, that's extremely rare.

Jones is a tweener who generally relies on others to create shots for him and has a questionable motor. His production is significantly easier to replace.

You don't trade Jones 100% of the time if he is out playing Dmo.

Who ever is performing best, you keep, whom ever is performimg worse, you trade a 100% of the time.

Yes Dmo is 7ft tall and has a nice post game, but that means nothing if he's getting out performed. That is not something people can just throw out the window. Who ever is playing better is playing better, and that's who we should keep.

Jones can create his own shot too, his combination of strength and quickness and 3point shot makes him hard to defend one on one. He constantly pump fakes, drives around opponents, has a solid face up game, drives into good positioms under the basket and can turn his back to the basket for a hook shot. His offensive style is very similar to Josh Smith. He can and has created for him self multiple times this season.

Again none of this is to say I currently view Dmo over Jones, but if Jones continues his play of late and out classes Dmo for a extended period of time, the question will rise on whether who we should keep, and Dmo might not be the obvious choice anymore.

This is regular season Tjones...the past two playoffs, tjones has NOT performed for us whatsoever. Defensively and offensively, he is atrocious when playing in the playoffs. That tjones is what matters to me IMO

Was a fan of Jones but finally saw past the smoke screen. Need to unload him ASAP when his value is reasonably high. Don't kid yourself, dude turns into a mental midget during the post season.

Exactly, I think people unfairly judge TJ by extrapolating his defense from 2 friggin yrs ago against one of the best PF's in the game in Aldridge and use it to constantly bash the dude. Yes D-mo is a 7 footer with a post game but TJ is not chopped liver either. He's more than capable of getting his points in a myriad of ways, yes he might not have a pretty jumper or a post game like D-Mo, but he's a great slasher, quick, can face up and draw fouls, and he's a stronger finisher at the rim than D-mo.

They both bring something different to the table. D-mo is great at getting in position in the post on defense and better at drawing charges, and TJ is great at help defense and a better blocker.

The hate against TJ on this forum is unhealthy, it's like the TJ hate bandwagon rolls out in full force whenever he has a bad play, give this kid a break, this entire team has mostly been underwhelming for the majority of the season but T Jones has been one of our more consistent performers.

It kind of is. You have to gauge their production in the proper context. Jones relies on teammates to create shots for him whereas DMo creates his own shots. As such, Jones' production is much easier to replace. Basically, Jones isn't a game-changer. DMo is.

Sorry, but no. When you talk about a player's ability to create his own shot, you have to factor in consistency. Can that player consistently create a good shot for himself (or teammates)? For Jones, the answer is a resounding "no".

Pump faking? Face up game? The foundation of a face up game is the threat of a mid-range jumper. Jones hasn't proven he can shoot a face up jumper, and until he does, good defenses won't jump on his pump fakes.

3 pt shot? He has a slow release and his shooting form has far too much movement. Because of this, he only shoots 3 pointers when he's wide open, and he's only wide open b/c defenses have rotated off of him. In other words, his teammates have created the shot for him.

His offensive style may be similar to Josh Smith's, but Smith was superior in nearly every facet of the game.

Neither. They are both pretty much equal in output. Just have different styles.

I'm not gonna spew the same stuff, I guess we just disagree. But I want to address this point right here.

The only players on our team who shoots 3's by creating is Thornton and Harden. Not once have I ever seen Dmo do anything even remotely close to what you would consider him creating a open 3 point look for him self, and in fact i've seen Jones create his own 3pt shot a couple of times due to his handles.

All shooters Benefit off of the defense rotating and getting open looks, thats probably like more then 70% of how all 3's are attempted in the NBA, then you have players who can run off screens like Curry, Reddick, Thompson.

Players creating their own 3 point shots with dribble moves and taking contested jumpers are usually extremely difficult and inefficient shots only done by superstars and chuckers. Spot up wide open shooting is where its at for most role players.

Jones has proved he can create on offense multiple times this season, his ball handling gives him that ability. He's actually ISO'd quite a bit. His pump fake works a lot, he constantly drives around opponents.

Dmo can create too, but in a totally different way, from the post. I love Dmo's post game and ability to create, but that's not the only way a big man can create. Like I said, Jones creates for him self on offense very similarly to Josh Smith. Some 3's, face up drives, perimeter pump fake drives, some post ups and fast break / coast to coast plays.

At the same time though, you don't have to create to be a "game changer". Finishing alley oops, pick and rolls, catch and finish, spot up shooting, rebounding, shot blocking all can make players game changers or highly impactful on the game. There's different roads that all lead back to the same thing that is productivity. I again believe, who ever is the most productive player is the player we should keep. I don't see how one would argue the statement " If Jones continues to clearly outperform Dmo for a extended period of time, then the Rockets might possibly consider keeping him over Dmo if one ends up being traded "

    But whatever, that's my input.
